Following the footsteps of Kedah, Kuantan will soon see the launch of the Bas.My bus service under the Stage Bus Service Transformation 2.0 (SBST 2.0) programme, marking the end of Rapid Kuantan’s 13-year run.

The new pink buses will begin service on Dec 16, 2025, with operations running under the new concession until 2030. They will take over all current Rapid Kuantan routes, ensuring continuity for passengers.

The fleet will be delivered in stages and equipped with safety features such as CCTV cameras and GPS tracking systems.

Rapid Kuantan will maintain its operations until the handover date. The announcement ends months of speculation after the Pahang state assembly was told last year that Rapid Kuantan would cease operations in May 2025. The operator eventually withdrew from the bidding process for SBST 2.0, citing rising operational costs.

The SBST 2.0 initiative aims to modernise and improve public bus services nationwide. Kuantan’s switch to Bas.My follows the rollout in Kedah, where the service has already recorded tens of thousands of monthly users since its June launch.
