Starting Aug 5, Malaysians can register for JPJeID at any licensed driving institute (IM) across the country, a move by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to make its digital services more accessible to the public.

The initiative allows learner drivers and members of the public to sign up for JPJeID accounts directly at driving schools, in addition to existing online and branch options.

JPJeID serves as a digital identity that allows users to log in to JPJ’s online platforms like the MySIKAP portal and the MyJPJ mobile app. With it, users can carry out up to 38 types of transactions online, including license applications, vehicle registration and road tax renewals.

One of the key improvements is for new drivers. Those who have passed the mandatory driver education module (KPP01) can now apply for their Probationary Driving Licence (LDL) directly through the MySIKAP portal.

Once payment is completed, the LDL will be issued digitally and made available in the MyJPJ app, no physical collection required.

JPJ says this latest move is part of its broader push to improve service delivery and reduce congestion at physical counters by encouraging more Malaysians to go digital. In a statement, the department said it hopes the initiative will make its services more accessible and support the government’s ongoing digitalisation efforts.

For now, registration is open to Malaysian citizens with MyKad or MyPR.
