Ops Luxury JPJ Melaka: Luxury Cars Seized in Snap Crackdown
A 25-year-old woman became the youngest luxury car owner in Melaka to have her vehicle seized during Ops Luxury JPJ Negeri Melaka - a three-day enforcement drive held from Aug 17 to 19.
Her car was among four high-end vehicles worth a combined RM1 million confiscated by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for expired road tax and lack of insurance coverage.
The other vehicles taken during the operation included a Toyota Alphard, Porsche Taycan, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A5, all owned by individuals aged between 33 and 54.
State JPJ director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop said the woman’s car was stopped along Jalan Melaka Sentral, where checks showed that its road tax had lapsed for several months. The operation used JPJ’s “Snap n Check” method, allowing officers to swiftly detect cars not complying with licensing and insurance laws.
She emphasised that such violations are serious as they compromise road safety and affect the rights of other motorists. JPJ, she said, will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against owners who evade their obligations.
“Driving without valid road tax and insurance is not only against the law, but it also poses a significant danger to lives. A full probe will follow, and strict action will be taken to preserve road safety,” she said.
The department also urged members of the public to report any road safety concerns directly through JPJ’s official channels.
