RM68 SMART Tunnel Pass Offers Unlimited Travel This Merdeka
-full_normal.jpg)
SMART introduced the Merdeka Unlimited Travel Pass (MUTP), a special one-month promotion in conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th Merdeka celebration. Priced at RM68, the pass allows unlimited travel on the SMART Tunnel from Aug 16 to Sept 16.
This special edition card features an exclusive design and is available in limited quantities. It offers no time restrictions, allowing cardholders to use the SMART Tunnel at any hour throughout the promotional period.
The unlimited travel benefit applies only to the SMART Tunnel, making it most worthwhile for frequent users of the route.

The MUTP is an NFC-enabled Touch ‘n Go (TNG) card, which must be registered or linked to the TNG eWallet app. Activation requires scanning the QR code printed on the card sleeve.
While it can still be used on other highways for normal TNG transactions, the unlimited travel perk is exclusive to the SMART Tunnel during the campaign dates.
The card can be purchased at SMART Highway toll lanes in both directions, SMART Toll Plaza counters, selected KESAS, SPRINT and LDP locations, as well as a booth at TRX in Kuala Lumpur. Online purchases are not available, and payment is accepted only via DuitNow QR code.

Once the campaign ends, the MUTP remains valid as a regular TNG card. There will be no refunds for underutilisation, so for those who seldom use the SMART Tunnel, the pass may not offer meaningful savings.
You would need to make at least 23 trips to break even on the RM68 cost, unless you are a TNG card collector who must have every limited run design.
For regular commuters however, the MUTP offers a convenient and cost-effective way to celebrate Merdeka with unlimited, hassle-free travel into the city.
