Selangor May Fine Men RM500 For Parking In Women-Only Bays
Men who park their cars into parking bays marked for women drivers in Selangor could soon be hit with a RM500 fine.
The proposal, tabled by the Selangor Women’s Assembly (Siwanis), aims to protect women especially those travelling alone and stop the growing misuse of these spots.
Siwanis delegate Too Chun Yoke said the enforcement would rely on an automated system to catch offenders. Repeat violators wouldn’t just get a ticket but their vehicles could be clamped or towed if caught again within the hour.

“There should also be a clear public warning, like a red e-summons icon in the e-parking app, so everyone knows who’s hogging these bays,” she said.
Too also suggested peak-hour patrols, silent checks, and direct feedback from women drivers to make sure the policy delivers on safety.
Her remarks came in response to Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman Adlina Abdul Alim, who asked how the state plans to strengthen its Single Women Drivers initiative.
She warned that once parking facilities are handed over to private operators, without strong measures, the rights of women drivers could be easily overlooked.

“Women-only bays usually placed in visible, well-lit areas, are meant to offer an extra layer of security. But in busy districts, they’re often taken by drivers who ignore the signage,” Adlina stated.
