Wuling Bingo S Debuts in China — B-Segment EV Hatch with 430 KM Range
The all-new Wuling Bingo S EV hatch debuts in China as SGMW’s answer to the popular Geely Xingyuan.
It appears that the soon-to-be-launched TQ Wuling Bingo EV hatch has just got a slightly larger sibling in China, simply known as the Wuling Bingo S. This B-segment EV hatch is now available for sale in China, with prices ranging from CNY 68,800 to CNY 81,800 (RM40,375 – RM48,004).
Unlike the original Bingo, the new Bingo S is a much larger car, spanning 4,265 mm long, 1,785 mm wide, 1,600 mm, and with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. This puts it on par with larger B-segment EV hatchbacks like the popular Geely Xingyuan, the BYD Dolphin, and many more.
In terms of design, the Bingo S looks like a culmination of both the Xingyuan and the Dolphin, with several Wuling styling cues scattered around it.
Some key design highlights include rounded triangular LED headlights a la Bingo EV, a grill-less front face with a wide trapezoidal front air intake, through-type LED taillights a la BYD Dolphin, 16-inch two-tone alloy rims, optional two-tone colourways with a blacked-out rooftop that gives it a floating roof look, and many more.
On-board, the Bingo S gets a pretty typical minimalistic cabin setup featuring either brown or white colour options. The main cockpit comprises a 12.8-inch floating central infotainment screen, a smaller 8.8-inch full LCD metre display, a three-spoke steering wheel, vertical A/C vents, and a floating central console with a 50-watt wireless charger.
Some other key amenities primed here include manually adjustable front seats, six speakers, remote control function via a mobile phone app, a built-in AI voice assistant, and many more.
Despite its small footprint, the Bingo S is quite a practical peoplemover, boasting up to 25 storage spaces throughout the interior, while its boot space can be expanded to 1,450 litres once the rear seats are folded down.
On the powertrain front, the new Bingo S is exclusively powered by a single-motor setup rated at 101 hp (75 kW) and a peak torque of 180 Nm, making it slightly peppier than the smaller Bingo EV. While no official century sprint times are mentioned for now, Wuling does say that the Bingo S EV will have a V-max of only 150 km/h.
Two LFP battery options are available for the Bingo S, namely the smaller 31.9 kWh and the larger 41.9 kWh unit, providing CLTC ranges of 325 km and 430 km, respectively. Under DC fast charging, the Bingo S takes 35 minutes to be charged from 30% to 80%, while the slower AC method sees a 20% to 100% charge completed in 9.5 hours for the smaller battery and 6.5 hours for the larger one.
Given its overall size and specs, it seems like the new Wuling Bingo S is the more comparable model to go against the likes of the upcoming Proton e.MAS 5, the BYD Dolphin, and even the upcoming Perodua QV-E. That said, would you rather see Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd (TCMH) introduce the Bingo S along with the upcoming TQ Wuling Bingo in the future?
