Untitled-design---2025-09-29T171916.385.png Kuala Lumpur police will shift from warnings to full enforcement against traffic offenders beginning Oct 1, city police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed.

The change marks the end of the advisory phase of the ongoing law compliance operation launched on Sept 6. Since then, officers have issued more than 60,000 warning notices for a range of offences, The Star reported.

“Starting Oct 1, we will not issue any more warnings. Instead, we will take stern and prompt enforcement action against traffic offenders,” Fadil said.

The campaign, he explained, is designed to raise awareness, improve safety, and ease congestion caused by traffic violations.

Enforcement will be concentrated in high-traffic hotspots including Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, and Jalan Tun Razak.

Illegal parking and obstruction emerged as the most common offences during the first phase, followed by disobeying traffic signs (2,489 notices), the use of fancy number plates (927), and failing to wear helmets (407).

By vehicle type, car drivers topped the list with 4,664 warnings, closely followed by motorcyclists (4,587) and pedestrians (1,224).

“With the shift to summonses, police hope the stricter approach will deter repeat offenders and restore smoother traffic flow across the capital,” Fadil concluded.
