PMX: RM1.99 RON95 from 30 Sept, MyKad-Based Access; Non-Citizens RM2.60

The government has announced a reduction in the retail price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre for Malaysian citizens, beginning 30 Sept 2025. For non-citizens, the price will be set at RM2.60 per litre from the same date.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the move will benefit an estimated 16 million Malaysians. He described the decision as a gesture of appreciation in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day, highlighting it as a reward for the people.
“This reduction from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre is a recognition of the spirit of national pride and a token of appreciation to all Malaysians,” he said during his monthly address with the Prime Minister’s Department staff in Putrajaya today.

The subsidy, under the Budi95 programme, is only available to individuals holding a valid MyKad with a valid driving licence (CDL), regardless of income level. Corporations and foreign nationals are excluded from enjoying the subsidised rate.
Anwar explained that while the full roll-out starts on 30 Sept, the benefit will be made available earlier to certain groups. Police and military personnel will be able to access the lower price from 27 Sept.
On 28 Sept, around five million members of the B40 community and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients will also begin enjoying the RM1.99 rate.
“From 30 Sept onwards, non-citizens and large corporations will no longer qualify for this subsidy. It is strictly for individual Malaysians who hold a MyKad,” he stressed.
