The charging station of the future will be fully automated. Huawei has announced a completely automated charging system for electric vehicles. Simply park your EV, and a dedicated robot will take care of the rest.

The company presented a video that shows a charging port cover opening automatically and the robotic arm autonomously plugging the charger into the driverless Maextro S800 electric car.

Maextro is Huawei and JAC's joint brand, as well as the most premium of the four brands in Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance). The Maextro S800 model in the video includes a number of high-end amenities like cruise control, privacy mode, communication system, AI, and defence mode.

The gadget maker claims that the vehicle will automatically look for a charging station when the automated charging feature is remotely turned on. The charging gun robot arm will then refuel the vehicle after it has been located and parked next to the charger. The arm automatically unplugs, the money is taken out, and the vehicle is free to drive away after the charging process is completed.
This technology provides drivers with improved comfort, which is particularly helpful for individuals with limited mobility, as well as in bad weather. Furthermore, this charger has a charging rate of up to 600 kW, allowing batteries to be recharged in just 10 minutes or recover at least 200 kilometres of range in just five minutes.

CarNewsChina reports that this automatic charging robot arm will be mass-produced in the second quarter. This charger is compatible with all members of the Huawei Supercharger Alliance, including BYD, Xpeng, Li Auto, Aito, JAC, and Great Wall.

In 2024, Huawei formed a partnership with 11 of China's biggest electric vehicle manufacturers with the goal of constructing 100,000 super-fast charging stations by 2024. Huawei's flagship charging station is a 600 kW liquid-cooled super-fast charging station intended to compete with the Tesla V4.
