With over 5,000 deliveries made in just 40 days, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 retains its crown as the king of compact SUVs.

Since making its debut in July this year, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 has received rave reception among Malaysians, with this SUV model now clocking over 5,000 deliveries in just 40 days. This feat is also enough for the X50 to retain its crown as the king of compact SUVs in Malaysia—a title it has held since the pre-facelift model was launched back in 2020.

According to Proton, the new X50’s strong appeal towards younger audiences stems from its stylish design, with the facelifted model getting a dramatic design change over the previous model. Some key highlights include the sharp LED headlights, a new front bumper with horizontal slats and a songket weave grille insert, full-width LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels, a new aggressive rear wing, and many more.

Not to forget, the new X50 also benefits from a new 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol mill mated to a 7-speed DCT box. Thanks to the extra cylinder, the new X50 boasts a higher output of 181 PS and 290 Nm, allowing this compact SUV a quick century sprint time of 7.6 seconds.

Also new here is the revised interior, with the biggest highlight being the new 14.6-inch infotainment head unit that now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Equally popular with buyers is the 360-degree HD camera system that helps drivers manoeuvre through tight spaces and city streets with ease, Proton says.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response from Proton X50 owners. Customer satisfaction has always been Proton’s goal, and this feedback reflects the trust Malaysians place in our products. This inspires us to continue raising the bar, reinforcing the Proton X50’s position as the King of SUVs while setting new standards across all segments,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of Proton Edar.

As a recap, the all-new 2025 Proton X50 comes in three variants, with prices starting from RM89,800 for the 1.5TD Executive, RM101,800 for the 1.5TD Premium, and RM113,300 for the top-spec 1.5TD Flagship. That said, the first 10,000 customers who register their X50 before Oct 31 this year are entitled to a special cash rebate worth up to RM4,000.
