Swift Bridge Technologies (MFG) Sdn. Bhd. is stepping up to boost Malaysia’s EV ecosystem with a RM11.2 million investment to localise EV charger production over the next three years. The move positions the Kedah-based firm as Malaysia’s first local manufacturer of certified EV chargers.

The announcement was made at the Global Automotive & Technology Expo (GATE 2025) in Kuala Lumpur, where Swift Bridge signed MoUs with Ideal Property Group, ChargeSini, EV Plus, and SDEC Karuna. The exchange was witnessed by MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid and MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz.

Swift Bridge will set up full-scale production for AC (7kW–22kW) and DC (120kW–600kW) chargers, targeting 10,000 AC units annually by 2026 and 1,000 DC units by 2028. All chargers will be SIRIM QAS–certified to meet Malaysian and international standards.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul said the initiative strengthens Malaysia’s EV infrastructure and shows growing confidence in national policies like the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint. He added that projects like this attract quality, tech-driven investments while creating high-skilled jobs and deepening local supply chains.

Swift Bridge Technologies is also investing in talent development, with plans to train over 200 Malaysians in the next three years. The programme will focus on roles in maintenance, commissioning, field services, product design, and engineering to support the company’s growing operations.

Executive Chairman Dato’ SK Chong called the collaboration with MIDA and SIRIM a milestone for Malaysia’s EV industry, adding that the company is proud to lead EV charger manufacturing under a “proudly Malaysian” banner.

The locally built chargers will serve property developers, charging point operators, and both commercial and residential users—strengthening Malaysia’s EV supply chain and advancing its role as a regional hub for green tech innovation.
