Unpaid Summonses Won’t Affect BUDI95 Subsidy - MOT

The Transport Ministry has cleared the air after rumours started spreading that drivers with unpaid traffic summonses might lose their BUDI95 petrol subsidy. 

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, that’s simply not true because the two things are completely separate.

Loke explained that the BUDI95 subsidy system and traffic summons records don’t link to each other, and there’s no automatic link that would cut off someone’s subsidy just because they haven’t settled their fines.

"What does matter for BUDI95 eligibility are the basic requirements already in place

"Applicants must be Malaysian citizens with MyKad verification, and they need to have a valid driving licence. A licence that is still active or even expired for less than three years is still considered valid for subsidy purposes," he said.

While clarifying the misunderstanding, Loke also reminded motorists to keep following traffic rules, not for the sake of subsidies or penalties, but for everyone’s safety on the road.
