Chery Malaysia Outlines 2026 Plans, Four New SUVs Confirmed

At a recent media engagement, Chery Auto Malaysia VP Wen Hsiang shared how the brand has progressed since returning to the Malaysian market in 2023, marking a relatively short but productive rebuilding phase.
Cumulative sales to date have reached 30,073 units since Chery’s return to the local market. In the early phase, volumes were driven mainly by the Omoda range, which accounted for 84% of sales, while the Tiggo models made up the remaining 16%.

That picture has changed over the past two years. By 2025, the Tiggo series has overtaken Omoda as Chery’s main contributor, with the brand’s more premium SUVs now accounting for 66% of total sales, compared with 34% from Omoda.
The shift suggests buyers are increasingly comfortable moving up the range, particularly into larger and better-equipped premium offerings.

Sales growth has been matched by an expanding dealer network. Chery now operates 59 sales outlets nationwide, supported by 54 aftersales centres and 25 Body & Paint facilities. The wider footprint has helped improve access outside major urban areas and support growing vehicle sales.
Product activity is set to accelerate further in 2026, following the launch of the Tiggo 8 1.6 last week. Chery Malaysia confirmed that a new model targeting the luxury segment will be introduced in the second quarter of the year. While the company did not name the model, it is widely expected to be the Tiggo 9, which was previewed earlier at the Chery International User Summit (CIUS) 2025.

Two more launches are planned for Q3. One will be positioned as a performance-oriented model, while the other is aimed at a younger, more lifestyle-driven audience. Chery plans to close out the year with another SUV that will debut its latest-generation CSH system, signalling the brand’s next step in powertrain and technology development.

Beyond product launches, 2026 will also mark the introduction of a new-generation Chery showroom concept. Built around the brand’s corporate identity, the updated retail format is intended to reflect Chery’s evolving positioning in the Malaysian market as it moves further up the value chain.
