Proton B&P Fire: No Casualties, Incident Under Investigation
Earlier today, Proton issued a statement acknowledging a fire incident that occured at one of its authorised B&P outlets.

Amidst the fanfare from the launch of the upgraded 2026 Proton X70, the national automaker also issued another press release acknowledging a fire incident that occurred at one of its authorised body and paint (B&P) outlets.
In it, the automaker confirmed the incident, which occurred earlier this week on Wednesday, Jan 7 circa 5PM at Proton Salient Progress (B&P) in Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam – part of the Salient Progress Kepong 4S showroom outlet.
Proton confirmed that fire and rescue personnel responding to said incident successfully controlled the blaze by 8PM on the same day. More importantly, the automaker also noted that there were no casualties – injuries or deaths – reported too.

File photos of an example Proton outlet. The automaker says the affected outlet sees its regular operations unaffected by the fire incident mentioned.

“The cause and extent of damage resulting from the incident are currently under investigation. At this point, there is no indication that the incident was caused by any product-related issue,” adds Proton in the same statement issued.
Concurrently, Proton says that it will extend support to the affected dealer to address customer-related matters, and that it will also work closely with relevant authorities involved in the investigation mentioned earlier.
Lastly, Proton also highlighted that the affected dealership mentioned sees its normal daily operations remain unaffected – customers can still visit the showroom to view new Proton vehicles like the upgraded 2026 Proton X70 mentioned, or even service their existing Proton vehicles.
