Booking Is Open! Everything You Need to Know About Toyota Yaris Cross Malaysia in 5 Minutes

After months of road sightings and teasers, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has finally opened the order books for the all-new Toyota Yaris Cross. Positioned as the premium choice in the B-SUV segment, here is the full breakdown of what’s coming to our shores.
1. Estimated Pricing & Local Variants

Toyota is simplifying the choice for Malaysians with two high-spec variants:
- Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S (Petrol): Estimated from RM99,900
- Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid (HEV): Estimated from RM109,900
For just RM10,000 more, the Hybrid variant offers a massive jump in fuel efficiency and a more refined, quiet urban driving experience.
2. Powertrain: Expected Specs

While UMWT has yet to release the final Malaysian spec sheet, we can look at the ASEAN configuration for what’s likely under the hood:
- The Petrol (1.5S): Expected to feature the reliable 1.5L 2NR-VE engine (106 PS / 138 Nm) paired with a D-CVT gearbox.
- The Hybrid (HEV): Expected to use the 1.5L 2NR-VEX Atkinson-cycle engine paired with an electric motor for a combined system output of 111 PS.
3. Premium Cabin & Features

Unlike the base-spec siblings in this segment, UMWT has confirmed that the Malaysian Yaris Cross will be a tech-forward space.
- 10.1-inch Infotainment: A massive head unit that supports Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standard across both variants.
- 7-inch TFT Display: A high-resolution digital instrument cluster paired with a digital LED speedometer.
- 18-inch Two-Tone Alloys: Both variants sport the same premium wheel design for a consistent, aggressive look.
- Interior Illumination: Blue ambient lighting to elevate the cabin’s nighttime aesthetic.
Standard vs. Optional Conveniences:
- Wireless Charging: This is Standard on the Hybrid (HEV). If you’re getting the petrol 1.5S, you can add it as an option for RM380.
- Digital Video Recorder (DVR): Both variants can be equipped with a rear-facing DVR for an additional RM380.
- Exterior Palette: You have 5 choices, including the signature Dark Turquoise and Spicy Scarlet SE. (Note: Platinum Pearl White is a RM400 premium).
4. Local Warranty & Service Packages

Toyota is offering some of the strongest peace-of-mind packages in the country:
- Full Vehicle: 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty.
- Hybrid Battery: 8-year warranty (covering battery, inverter, and ECU), which can be extended to 10 years for RM2,500.
- Service Savers: Optional prepaid maintenance packages starting from RM2,350 (3 years/60,000km) to RM3,650 (5 years/100,000km) to lock in your costs.
Which variant is on your wishlist, the practical 1.5S or the tech-heavy Hybrid? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
