Prime, Premium, Or Premium Plus? 4 Major Differences Between The 3 Proton e.Mas 7 Tiers

Proton has officially shaken up its national EV lineup by dropping a brand-new, range-topping flagship variant at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026: Proton eMas 7 Premium Plus.

Locally assembled (CKD) right at Proton’s dedicated EV plant in Tanjong Malim, this new "Plus" tier sits proudly at the top of a now three-strong family tree. If you're currently scratching your head trying to figure out which version actually fits your daily commute and your budget, you are not alone!

To make your life easier, we broke down the three tiers side-by-side (note that these are special launch prices after factoring in the RM7,000 rebate):

  • eMas 7 Prime: RM96,800
  • eMas 7 Premium: RM112,800
  • eMas 7 Premium Plus: RM118,800

Here are the 4 major differences you need to know about before heading to the showroom:

1. The Ultimate Distance Test: How far can you actually go?

The absolute biggest differentiator across these three tiers comes down to battery capacity, which directly dictates your weekend road trip plans:

  • The Budget-Friendly Prime: Packs a 49.52 kWh battery giving you a 345 km WLTP range, perfect if you are mostly doing city runs, traffic jams, and daily office commutes.
  • The Balanced Premium: Steps things up to a 60.22 kWh battery pack, stretching your driving range out to 410 km WLTP.
  • The Range-Topping Premium Plus: Takes after its overseas twin (the Geely EX5) by loading up a massive 68.39 kWh battery, granting you a much beefier 450 km WLTP range! That is a solid 40 km jump over the standard Premium variant, giving you serious peace of mind on the PLUS highway.

2. The Weight & Speed Plot Twist: The most expensive one is... slower?

Here is a fascinating little technical detail that will absolutely crush your usual car group arguments. Even though all three variants share the exact same 218 PS/320 Nm front-mounted electric motor, their 0-100 km/h sprint benchmarks tell a completely different story:

  • Prime: 6.9 seconds
  • Premium: 7.1 seconds
  • Premium Plus: 7.4 seconds

Wait, why are you paying more to go slower off the line? It all comes down to pure physics! The range-topping Premium Plus carries that massive 68.39 kWh battery pack, which pushes its kerb weight up to 1,815 kg, making it a full 50 kg heavier than the mid-spec Premium tier.

3. The R&R Fast-Charging Math: Bigger juice, same wait time

You might assume that packing a much larger battery pack means you'll be stuck waiting around longer at highway charging stations. Thankfully, Proton's engineering teams thought ahead.

While the entry-level Prime handles 80 kW DC input, the top-spec Premium Plus boosts its fast-charging capability up to 115 kW DC.

Because of this upgraded charging speed, you can plug into a compatible fast charger at an R&R station and zip from 30% to 80% charge in the exact same 20-minute duration as its smaller-battery siblings! On the flip side, home AC charging (at 11 kW) will take a slightly longer 6.7 hours for a full 10-100% reset on the Plus.

4. The Interior 'Lounge' Luxury: Passenger royalty mode

If you plan on being chauffeured around or want to keep your partner happy on long interstate road trips, the Premium Plus tier adds some serious luxury features that are completely missing on the lower models:

  • The Prime Cabin: Gets the basics right with a massive 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen display, standard ADAS, and 6 speakers.
  • The Premium Cabin: Upgrades your life with a windshield-projected Head-Up Display (HUD), front ventilated seats, and a premium 16-speaker Flyme audio system with speakers built straight into the headrests.
  • The Premium Plus Cabin: Goes full "boss mode" by introducing a dedicated leg rest for the front passenger seat alongside a built-in massage function for both the driver and front passenger seats!

Which one are you driving home?

Are you saving cash with the RM96,800 Prime, balancing your lifestyle with the Premium, or splurging on the ultimate RM118,800 Premium Plus for those massage seats and long-range highway road trips? Let us know your pick in the comments below!
