RM148k Down To RM118k?! Suzuki Malaysia Just Gave The Fronx Hybrid A Massive Price Cut

If you remember when the fully imported (CBU) Suzuki Fronx Hybrid officially made its local debut back in November last year, it came with a somewhat controversial sticker price of RM147,888. Netizens across local car forums immediately went wild, complaining that it was far too expensive for a compact crossover.

Well, it looks like those complaints were heard loud and clear.
Out of absolutely nowhere, Suzuki has announced a permanent price restructuring. The base Fronx Hybrid has plummeted all the way down to RM118,888, making it an insane RM29,000 cheaper than it was just a few months ago!
Wait, So What Do You Actually Get For RM118k?

To make things even more interesting, Suzuki didn’t just slash the price of the base model; they concurrently launched a brand-new, dressed-up variant called the Fronx Sport (RM130,888).
Even with the aggressive new bodykit on the Sport variant, its price tag still sits roughly RM17,000 lower than what the plain base model used to cost last year!

If you are wondering how the specs stack up under this massive new pricing structure, here is the quick breakdown:
The Big Catch: What Changed Under The Skin?

If you're looking at that new "Sport" badge and hoping for an engine upgrade to match the aggressive dual-tone paint job, you might want to manage your expectations.
Mechanically, the Fronx Sport is completely unchanged under the hood. It runs the exact same, highly sensible 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system. It’s built for maximum fuel efficiency, touting a claimed range of up to 700 km on a single 37-litre tank, rather than winning stoplight drag races.

The chassis also remains exactly the same, keeping its comfortable MacPherson strut front layout and cost-effective rear drum brakes.

Essentially, the extra RM12,000 for the Sport variant goes purely into making the crossover look incredibly sleek, upgrading you to wider 17-inch Continental performance tyres, and tossing in a high-res 4K dual dashcam setup so you don't have to deal with messy aftermarket wiring.
Is It Finally Worth Pulling The Trigger?

When it was nudging RM150,000, the Fronx was an incredibly hard sell against larger local favorites or established mid-size SUVs. But at RM118,888, a CBU Japanese-badged crossover packed with a full safety shield and a fuel-sipping hybrid motor suddenly sounds like an incredibly compelling daily commuter for KL drivers.
Both variants are backed by a 3-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty, alongside a 5-year battery warranty for peace of mind.
What do you think of this massive price drop? Does dropping below the RM120k mark make you want to visit a showroom, or are you still eyeing local alternatives?
