Paid Your Road Tax Through MyEG? The Company Owes JPJ More Than RM200 Million

If you've ever renewed your road tax, driving licence or paid a traffic summons through MyEG, today's news might make you do a double take.

The Transport Ministry has confirmed that Zetrix AI Bhd, formerly known as MyEG Services Bhd, owes the government more than RM200 million in outstanding collections linked to Road Transport Department (JPJ) services.

The money reportedly involves payments collected for vehicle road tax renewals, driving licence renewals and traffic summonses.

So naturally, anyone who has used MyEG for a JPJ transaction might have one rather important question:

What exactly happened, and does any of this affect motorists?

TL;DR
💰 More than RM200 million: The Transport Ministry has confirmed the amount outstanding to the government.
🚗 What's involved: Collections reportedly include road tax and driving licence renewals, plus traffic summons payments.
🏢 MyEG is now Zetrix AI: MyEG Services Bhd changed its corporate name to Zetrix AI Bhd in 2025.
📱 Already used MyEG? We have not found any JPJ announcement saying completed transactions are invalid or need to be repeated.
👀 What happens next: The Transport Ministry is reportedly considering its next move while seeking recovery of the outstanding money.

First, MyEG Is Now Called Zetrix AI

If the name Zetrix AI doesn't immediately ring a bell, there's a simple reason. The listed company previously known as MyEG Services Bhd changed its corporate name to Zetrix AI Bhd in July 2025.

The MyEG name, however, remains much more familiar to Malaysian motorists because of the online services associated with it.

Back in 2023, Carz reported that MyEG had received a three-year extension as a JPJ collection agent, covering services including vehicle registration, driver and vehicle licensing and electronic summons payments.

So Where Does The RM200 Million Come In?

This is where it's important to separate what has been confirmed from what has been reported about how the situation developed.

What We Know So Far
Confirmed
A Transport Ministry spokesperson has confirmed to The Edge that the amount outstanding to the government is more than RM200 million.
Reported
The Straits Times, citing official government documents it reviewed, reports that the outstanding collections involve payments for road tax renewals, driving licence renewals and traffic summonses, and that the non-remittance dates back to the beginning of the three-year contract in May 2023.

The Edge reports that the Transport Ministry confirmed the outstanding amount after The Straits Times first reported the issue based on official documents it had seen.

According to The Straits Times, the amount outstanding had climbed to well over RM200 million by the end of September. The publication also reported that Zetrix AI had not responded to its request for comment at the time its report was published.

What If You've Already Paid Through MyEG?

This is probably the part most motorists care about. At the time of writing, we have not found an announcement from JPJ telling motorists that previously completed road tax or driving licence renewals through MyEG have become invalid.

Nor have we found an instruction telling customers to repeat transactions that were already successfully completed.

That doesn't mean we should make assumptions about what JPJ may do next. It simply means there is currently no official instruction we've found requiring motorists to redo completed transactions.

If you're concerned about your own road tax or driving licence, the sensible thing to check is the status recorded in JPJ's own system.

MyEG isn't the only route for JPJ transactions either. As Carz previously reported, MyJPJ and MySikap remain JPJ's main official digital channels, alongside other appointed collection agents and physical JPJ counters.

Quick FAQ For Motorists
Is my road tax suddenly invalid?
We have not found any JPJ announcement saying previously completed renewals have been invalidated because of this issue.
Do I need to pay again?
We have not found any instruction from JPJ telling motorists to repeat successfully completed transactions.
How can I check my own status?
Check the relevant road tax or driving licence information through JPJ's official channels, including MyJPJ or MySikap.
Could this change?
Possibly. This is a developing story, and any new instructions from JPJ or the Transport Ministry would take precedence over the information currently available.

What Happens To The RM200 Million Now?

That's one of the biggest unanswered questions. The Straits Times quoted an unnamed government official as saying that the Transport Ministry is considering its next step, with the government seeking both a more reliable digital payment system and recovery of the outstanding money.

That could make what happens next bigger than the RM200 million figure alone.

After all, this involves a payment system used for everyday government transactions by Malaysian motorists. How those collections move from customer to collection agent to government, and what safeguards exist along the way, are now obvious questions.

Zetrix AI's Shares Have Taken A Hit Too

The market reaction has been severe. Zetrix AI shares fell as much as 33.33% on Friday following reports of the outstanding JPJ collections, dropping to 11 sen at 3:08 PM.

For motorists, though, the share price isn't really the main issue.

The bigger questions are what happens to the outstanding collections, whether the government's arrangements for handling JPJ payments change, and whether motorists will receive any new instructions.

What We're Watching Next
There Are Still Some Big Questions
• Zetrix AI's detailed explanation of the outstanding amount.
• Whether JPJ or MOT changes the way these payments are collected.
• How and when the government intends to recover the money.
• Whether motorists receive any new instructions regarding MyEG transactions.

So, Should MyEG Users Be Worried?

For now, there's no reason to assume from this report alone that a successfully completed road tax or driving licence transaction has suddenly disappeared.

But there is clearly a much bigger issue between Zetrix AI and the government that still needs explaining. More than RM200 million is outstanding. The Transport Ministry has confirmed that much.

Exactly how the amount accumulated, how it will be recovered and what happens to the collection system from here are the parts we'll be watching closely.
