Prasarana's Broken Lifts: Why Anthony Loke Wants Weekly Updates
![]()
A broken escalator is frustrating. But for wheelchair users, a broken lift can make an entire train station inaccessible.
That's why Transport Minister Anthony Loke wants Prasarana to continue submitting weekly reports on faulty lifts and escalators, with their operational status monitored as part of the Transport Ministry's key performance indicators (KPIs).
Prasarana must provide regular updates on how many lifts and escalators are working and how many are faulty or require repairs. The information allows the ministry to monitor facility reliability.
WHAT THE WEEKLY REPORTS COVER
✓ Operational
Lifts and escalators in working condition.
⚙ Faulty
Facilities requiring attention or repairs.
Reporting frequency: Weekly | Monitored by: Transport Ministry
Weekly reports can show how many facilities are faulty. But for commuters, the more important question is how quickly those faults are resolved.
That's especially critical for passengers who cannot simply take the stairs when a lift breaks down.
The real measure of Prasarana's maintenance performance isn't how many reports it submits. It's how reliably passengers can access the trains they depend on.
