Summary

The current Malaysian-market GWM ORA Good Cat is offered solely in the Ultra variant, priced at RM109,800 before registration and related on-the-road fees. The official on-the-road price without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia is RM110,580. Fully imported from Thailand, it uses a 57.7-kWh LFP battery and a single front-mounted electric motor.

The Good Cat produces 143 PS and 210 NM, with up to 480 KM of NEDC range. Warranty coverage includes five years or 150,000 KM for the vehicle and eight years or 180,000 KM for the battery, motor and motor-control unit. A one-to-one battery replacement is provided if battery health falls below 70% within the warranty period.

Interior

Dashboard

The dashboard features a wide 17.25-inch integrated display panel, combining a seven-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. Rounded air vents and colour-matched trim continue the retro-modern exterior theme.

Centre Console

The updated centre console replaces the previous rotary gear selector with a column-mounted electric shifter. This creates additional space for storage and places the 50-W wireless smartphone charger within easier reach.

Instrument Cluster

The seven-inch digital instrument display presents speed, remaining range, energy usage, driver-assistance status and charging information. It is positioned beside the infotainment screen within the single integrated panel.

Seats

Synthetic-leather upholstery is fitted as standard. The driver receives six-way powered adjustment with memory and massage functions, while the front passenger seat is manually adjustable. Front-seat ventilation is also included.

Space

The five-seat cabin benefits from a relatively long 2,650-MM wheelbase and a mostly flat rear floor. Front and rear passenger space is suitable for everyday commuting and small-family use, although the cabin is narrower than larger electric SUVs.

Steering Functions

The multifunction steering wheel provides controls for media, voice commands, cruise control and the digital instrument display. Both tilt and telescopic adjustment are available.

Storage Space

Storage areas include door pockets, a glovebox, centre-console compartments and an open tray around the redesigned console. The rear seatbacks fold in a 60:40 configuration when additional luggage space is required.

Cup Holders

Cup holders are provided within the front centre console and rear centre armrest, with additional bottle storage available inside the doors.

Charging Ports

The cabin includes two front USB ports, one rear USB port and a dedicated USB connection for a dash camera. A 12-volt socket and 50-W wireless smartphone charger are also included.

Build Quality

Synthetic leather, two-tone interior colours and neatly integrated displays create a stylish cabin environment. Some harder plastics remain, but the overall design feels more distinctive than many similarly priced hatchbacks.

Boot Space

The rear boot provides approximately 250 litres of luggage capacity. Its compact dimensions are sufficient for groceries and smaller bags, while folding the rear seats provides additional carrying space.

Exterior

Body Dimensions

The Good Cat measures approximately 4,235 MM long, 1,825 MM wide and 1,603 MM tall, with a 2,650-MM wheelbase. Kerb weight is approximately 1,510 KG, placing it between a conventional B-segment hatchback and compact crossover.

Front View

The front retains the Good Cat’s rounded, retro-inspired appearance, with a smooth grille-less fascia, curved bonnet and circular lighting units. Its simple surfaces give it a noticeably different character from more angular electric hatchbacks.

Rear View

The rounded roofline flows into a clean tailgate with a discreet roof spoiler. A slim lighting strip integrated near the rear windscreen creates a distinctive appearance without interrupting the smooth body design.

Headlamps

Intelligent LED headlamps are fitted with LED daytime-running lights, automatic operation and high-beam assistance. Their rounded design forms one of the Good Cat’s most recognisable exterior features.

Tail Lamps

Full-LED tail lamps are integrated across the rear windscreen area, while additional lighting elements are positioned lower within the bumper. This arrangement helps maintain the Good Cat’s uncluttered rear design.

Side Mirror

The exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable and power-folding. Blind-spot warning indicators provide additional assistance when changing lanes.

Brakes

Ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear discs are supported by ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, stability control and regenerative braking.

Wheels

The Ultra rides on 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 215/50 R18 tyres. Cars finished in So Blue receive gloss-black wheels and contrasting yellow brake calipers, while the other colours use the standard alloy finish.

Features

Active Safety

Active-safety equipment includes ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, traction control, electronic stability control, hill-start assistance, Cornering Brake Control and tyre-pressure monitoring. Secondary-collision mitigation can also apply the brakes following an initial impact.

Passive Safety

Six airbags are fitted, comprising dual front, front-side and curtain airbags. The Good Cat also receives an ultra-high-strength steel body structure, ISOFIX child-seat mounting points and seatbelt reminders for all occupants.

Drive Modes

Selectable modes include Normal, Sport, Eco, Eco+ and Auto. These settings adjust accelerator response, steering assistance and energy usage according to the driving situation.

Infotainment

The 10.25-inch touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and vehicle settings. My GWM application support allows owners to check charging status, vehicle location, tyre pressure and climate-control information remotely.

Driver Assistance

The Level 2 driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with Intelligent Cornering, autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Centre Keeping and Emergency Lane Keeping.

Blind-spot monitoring, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, rear cross-traffic braking, Door Open Warning, Traffic Jam Assist, automatic parking and a 360-degree camera are also included.

Sound System

A six-speaker audio system is fitted as standard. Music can be played through Bluetooth, smartphone mirroring or the infotainment system’s built-in media functions.

Performance

Engine

A single front-mounted permanent-magnet electric motor produces 105 KW or 143 PS and 210 NM. Its output is focused on smooth urban performance and efficient everyday driving.

Transmission

Power is delivered through a single-speed electric reduction transmission. Immediate motor response allows acceleration without conventional gear changes.

Drivetrain

The ORA Good Cat uses a front-wheel-drive configuration, with the electric motor powering the front axle exclusively.

Acceleration

GWM Malaysia does not publish an official 0–100 KM/H figure for the current Ultra. Its top speed is limited to 150 KM/H, with performance tuned more for city and suburban driving than high-speed acceleration.

Fuel Consumption

The 57.7-kWh LFP battery provides up to 480 KM under the NEDC cycle, or approximately 400 KM under the more demanding WLTP standard.

Charging is supported at up to 6.6 KW AC and 60 KW DC. A full AC charge takes around nine hours, while DC charging from 30% to 80% requires approximately 38 minutes. The Good Cat also supports 3.3-KW Vehicle-to-Load operation.

Comfort

Convenience

Convenience equipment includes keyless entry and start, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, an electronic parking brake, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof and wireless smartphone charging.

Rear Air Vents

Dedicated rear centre-console air vents are not listed for the Malaysian Ultra. The single-zone automatic climate-control system instead distributes air from the dashboard vents and includes a PM2.5 cabin filter.

Ride Comfort

MacPherson-strut front suspension and a torsion-beam rear arrangement provide a straightforward setup suited to urban driving. The Good Cat generally prioritises comfortable and predictable handling, although the 18-inch wheels may transmit sharper road imperfections into the cabin.

Sound Insulation

The quiet electric drivetrain keeps engine noise and vibration out of the cabin. Wind noise is generally controlled at urban speeds, although tyre and road noise may become more noticeable on coarse highway surfaces.

Wrap Up

Conclusion

The current GWM ORA Good Cat Ultra remains one of the most distinctive electric hatchbacks available in Malaysia. Its retro-inspired styling, comfortable interior, comprehensive driver-assistance equipment and 480-KM NEDC range make it well suited to city drivers and small families.

The RM109,800 selling price is considerably more competitive than earlier versions, while the larger 57.7-kWh LFP battery provides useful everyday range. However, its small boot, lack of rear air vents and modest 60-KW DC charging rate are clear weaknesses. Overall, it offers strong equipment and character for buyers who do not require the sportier design and additional performance of the separate Good Cat GT.
