Toyota GR Supra

Engineered with exceptional precision, offering the performance, body and soul of a true sports car, the new Toyota GR Supra.

Known as the car that started the Gazoo Racing brand of Toyota performance models, it is also a highly regarded one by long-time fanatics. 

Its Malaysian launch was part of a collection of five, comprising the GR Corolla, GR86, Corolla Cross GR Sport and Hilux GR Sport.

The new GR Supra has a dashboard inspired by the layout of single-seater racing cars, designed to put the driver in the centre of action.

Straightforward and sporty, the black themed dash sees soft-touch paddings on the panels and silver detailing around the air-conditioning vents, dials and steering wheel.

All the elements are placed logically and driver centric, for a better driving experience. Overall, the craftsmanship is premium quality.

Fitted is an 8.8-Inch colour Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) unit, with a Heads-Up Display (HUD).

Track-oriented, racing-inspired and comfortable, the seats come in all-black full leather upholstery. They feature eight-way power adjustable, four-way power lumbar support, backrest width and side bolster adjustments (driver, passenger), and two-position memory function (driver).

The three-spoke steering wheel comes in all-black leather, and gets multi-switch functions, tilt and telescopic adjustments, paddle shifters (GR Supra A/T), and an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.

Weighing in at 1,578 KG (GR Supra 3.0 M/T), 1,600 KG (GR Supra 3.0 A/T), the new GR Supra stands at 4,379 MM long, 1,854 MM wide, 1,299 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,470 MM.

Its entire design profile merges racing aerodynamics with a modern, powerful look that screams driving performance.

Calculatedly formed, the front end features a low, wide nose, exuding a sleek and sporty outlook. The layout sees a three-sectioned air-intake integrated black grille, paired to a minimalistic black front lip.

The rear end’s design is toned and athletic, with sleek lines and sporty elements matching the front’s outlook. Seamless, the body-moulded boot lid spoiler and black sporty diffuser with a dual exhaust setup, mixes nicely with its double-bubble sloping roofline.

The headlamps are in an angularly-shaped eye design. Slanted inwards, they look very focused and ties the whole front together. They are adaptive LED units, with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and LED turn signals.

The tail lamps match the head lamps but in its own style, slightly slimmer and features an inverted ‘P’ light graphic. They are made of LED combination units, and have been paired to a set of diffuser integrated LED fog lamps. 

Gripping it to the tarmac is a set of new lightweight 19-Inch all-black multi-spoke forged alloy rims, wrapped in 255/35 R19 (front), 275/35 R19 (rear) Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.

It is installed with an 8.8-Inch central touchscreen infotainment system that comes with a touchpad remote controller, and supports Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, navigation, and vehicle status information and settings.

Installed is a 12-speaker JBL HiFi Surround sound system.

Mounted in the new GR Supra is the familiar B58 3.0-Litre, In-line six-cylinder, 24-valve DOHC, turbocharged petrol engine, dishing out 383 HP at 5,800 to 6,500 RPM and 500 NM at 1,800 to 5,000 RPM. 

The GR Supra 3.0 M/T gets a six-speed manual with a weighted (200 GM) gear lever for precise gear throws. Plus, it features Toyota’s Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) system that offers selectable automatic rev-matching and shorter final-drive ratio. 

Meanwhile, the GR Supra 3.0 A/T gets an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Drive is sent exclusively to the rear wheels (RWD), featuring an electronically controlled Limited Slip Differential (LSD) on the rear axle.

Zero to 100 KM/H is done in 4.4 seconds (GR Supra 3.0 M/T), 4.1 seconds (GR Supra 3.0 A/T), and top speed is 250 KM/H (GR Supra 3.0 M/T, GR Supra 3.0 A/T).

It has a fuel tank capacity of 52-Litres.

The new Toyota GR Supra is a total driver car, with every aspect of its build inside and out, focused on performance. 

Aesthetically, it also comes bearing a strikingly sporty and modern design inside and out, notably, the cockpit that’s racing-inspired.
