Zeekr 7X

The highly anticipated latest offering from the Chinese automaker, Zeekr, the all-new Zeekr 7X, officially launched in Malaysia.

A D-segment (mid-size crossover SUV) Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), it underpins Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform.

Fully imported (CBU – China), available via Zeekr Malaysia (VCM) are three variants (RWD Standard – MYR 179,800, RWD Long Range – MYR 190,800, AWD Performance – MYR 226,800).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) cover a vehicle warranty (five years/150,000 KM), an EV battery warranty (eight years/160,000 KM) and connected services (free – one year).

The all-new 7X has an angular and tiered dashboard (buttonless), linked to a high-rising-floating-wide (island-style – armrest, storage, dual wireless charger) centre console.

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees leatherette upholstery in single-tone (Black – RWD Standard, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) and dual-tone (Purple-White – AWD Performance) colour schemes.

Accentuating the layout are contrast trims (Aluminium: dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors – interior-colour-dependent-fabric: centre-dash panel) and an ambient lighting system (multi-colour – ripple effect).

Equipped are central/driver displays (floating: infotainment – dash integrated: instrument cluster), centre console buttons (piano key design – interior controls) and slim air-conditioning vents (hidden – dash embedded).

Inclusively, the design is airy and non-cluttered, with accessibilities purposefully arranged (driver-oriented, user-friendly).

Making-up the ‘Intelligent Cockpit’ (Qualcomm SA8295P Snapdragon Systems-on-Chips – SoC), installed is a 13.02-Inch HD TFT LCD fully digital driver display (instrument cluster), with a 36.21-Inch Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display (AR-HUD – RWD Long Range, AWD Performance).

Features are vehicle telematics, Bluetooth, navigation, voice recognition and customisable interface (drive mode dependent).

Comfortable, the interior sees leatherette (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) and Nappa leather (AWD Performance) upholsteries in two (Black: RWD Standard, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance – Purple-White: AWD Performance) colour schemes.

The front gets electric-powered (driver/passenger: multi-way-adjust, lumbar, memory, ventilation – RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, massage – RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) bolstered seats. The rear gets electric-powered (10-degree recline) bolstered bench (60:40 split-flat-fold). 

Included are headrests (front, rear), armrests (front: centre console, doors – rear: centre seat fold-out, doors), in-cabin fridge (optional: 8.0 Litres, temperature controlled – rear centre console), a panoramic glass sunroof (dark tint, heat/UV protect, electric sunshade) and retractable sunshades (electric: rear side windows – AWD Performance).

A five-seater SUV (mid-size crossover), the cabin offers generous space with comfortable seatings, providing ample interior mobility for the occupants (front, rear).

Mounted is a three-spoke-flat-top-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in leather (interior colour dependent) with contrast trims (Aluminium).

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Steering (EPS – speed sensitive) system (turning radius – 5.8 M).

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 KW) charging function, for powering of external appliances.

Accessing its electric-powered (contactless: remote/key fob, tailgate button, kick-sensor, height adjustment, memory) tailgate, opens to 539 Litres (rear seats up) and 1,978 Litres (rear seats down) of load capacities.

Included is a front trunk (frunk: 62 Litres).

Weighing in at 2,298 KG (RWD Standard), 2,320 KG (RWD Long Range) and 2,475 KG (AWD Performance), the all-new 7X measures at 4,787 MM in length, 1,930 MM in width, 1,650 MM in height and with a wheelbase spanning 2,900 MM.

Dynamically elegant, it parades a seamlessly curvaceous exterior, emphasised by cleanly and roundly cut surfaces.

The front-end sees a formed bonnet (Zeekr emblem – RWD Standard, RWD Long Range), rounded quarter panels (raised fenders, camera housing), a mildly concaved bumper (grille-omitted, full width-lower vented) and light strip (‘Zeekr Stargate Integrated Smart Light Curtain’ LED panel: customisable patterns, illuminated Zeekr emblem – AWD Performance).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper lip, fenders, side sills) and body trims (Black: vent, side mirror arms, camera housing, B-pillars, window surrounds – Chrome: Zeekr emblem – Silver: roof rails) and flush door handles (body-colour: electric).

Cleanly elegant, it continues the seamlessly curvaceous profile, emphasised by roundly cut and horizontally symmetrical surfaces.

The rear-end sees a mildly dipped roofline (roof-edge spoiler), rounded quarter panels (raised fenders), a tapered tailgate (Zeekr script: windscreen affixed, 7X emblem) and a covered bumper (exhaust-deleted).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper lip, fenders, side sills) and body trims (Black: bumper, B-pillars, window surrounds – Black-body-colour: roof-edge spoiler – Chrome: Zeekr emblem – Silver: roof rails) and flush door handles (body-colour: electric).

Bumper embedded, the headlamps are framed seamlessly slim and elongated. Installed are full LED (Intelligent Matrix) units.

Features are Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/cornering, Adaptive High Beam (AHB), welcome lights and sequential turn signals (LED).

Three-dimensional (3D), the tail lamps are framed full-width (lightbar) and slim with wrapped-around pointed edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off/cornering, welcome lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a set of fog lamps (bumper integrated).

The side mirrors (frameless – dual-tone – Black-body-colour) are electric-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with sequential turn signals, blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection – BSD), reverse-dipping, heating and memory.

Installed is a set of ventilated (front: ‘Akebono’ four piston callipers – AWD Performance) and solid (rear) disc brakes (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) with coloured callipers (Orange: front, rear – AWD Performance).

The drive is aided by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system. 

Included is a regenerative braking (two levels: Standard, Strong) system, One-Pedal-Drive mode and an Intelligent Integrated Braking (IPB) system.

Mounted are sets of 19-Inch (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) and 20-Inch (AWD Performance) multi-spoke (dual-tone – Black-Silver, Diamond-cut) alloy rims. 

The sets are rubbered-up in 255/50 R19 (front, rear) Continental EcoContact 7 (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) and 265/45 R20 (front, rear) Michelin Pilot Sport EV (AWD Performance) tyres.

The all-new 7X gets the following suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Grouped are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Centring Control (LCC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Emergency Lane Keep Assist (ELKA), Automatic Lane Change (ALC) with Turn Signal Input, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Parking Emergency Brake (PEB), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Collision Mitigation Support Rear (CMSR), Front Cross Traffic Assist (FCTA), Rear Cross Traffic Assist (RCTA), Driver Performance Monitor (DPS), Hands Off Detection (HOD), Automated Parking Assist (APA), Adaptive High Beam (AHB), Around View Monitor (AVM – 360-degree, transparent chassis) and Sentry Mode.

Completing the ‘Intelligent Cockpit’ (Qualcomm SA8295P Snapdragon Systems-on-Chips – SoC), installed is a 16-Inch MINI-LED (3.5 K) touchscreen central display (infotainment, control unit) with high-Definition (HD) cameras (B-pillars – occupant sensing).

The system supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (wireless), AM/FM radio, USB, Bluetooth, 5G/WiFi/WiFi hotspot, media, live navigation, face recognition, voice assistant (‘Intelligent’ AI assistant – “Hi Zeekr’), mobile app remote control (Zeekr App), app store, vehicle telematics and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

Entertainment is channelled via a ZEEKR Sound (10 speakers) audio system (RWD Standard) and a ZEEKR Sound Pro (21 speakers) audio system (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance).

The all-new 7X (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) underpins variant-specific e-powertrains (BEV).

Nestled (rear-mounted: RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) is a single-electric motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (310 KW/416 HP, 440 NM).

Fused (front-rear-mounted: AWD Performance) is a dual-electric motor (front: Asynchronous Magnet Synchronous Motor – AMSM, rear: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (475 KW/637 HP, 710 NM).

Merged to the setup is a single-speed automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) and all four wheels (AWD Performance), via a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.

0 to 100 KM/H acceleration is done in 6.0 seconds (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range) and 3.8 seconds (AWD Performance). 

Top speed is electronically capped at 210 KM/H (RWD Standard, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance).

Underpinned is Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform (800 V). Juicing-up the e-motors are variant specific Lithium-Ion battery packs.

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP: 75 KWH, WLTP driving range: 480 KM – RWD Standard) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC: 100 KWH, WLTP driving range: 615 KM – RWD Long Range, 543 KM – AWD Performance).

AC charging (Type 2: 22 KW), takes 4.5 hours (RWD Standard) and 5.5 hours (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) for a 10% to 100% State of Charge (SoC). 

DC charging (CCS2: 450 KW – RWD Standard, 420 KW – RWD Long Range, AWD Performance), takes 10.5 minutes (RWD Standard) and 16 minutes (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance) for a 10% to 80% SoC.

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 KW) charging function, for powering of external appliances.

Ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time. The e-vehicle delivers a connected steering feel, with linear and balanced weighing at all speeds. 

Overall, it is spacious and comfortable, and the ride quality is satisfactory. Safe and suitable as a daily driver.

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. The cabin is serene, with the tyre, road and wind noises mostly hindered. 

Included, Electromagnetic Vibration Reduction System (CCD).

The all-new Zeekr 7X exudes an electrifyingly sleek and modern outlook with its elegantly curvaceous and symmetrically seamless body contours.
