Second-Generation Perodua Alza Wins Malaysia Good Design Award

Held annually, the MGDA is organised by the Malaysian Design Council (MRM), which is a strategic design agency arm of the the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). The Malaysia Good Design Award (MGDA) 2022 and Certified Industrial Designer (CIDE) certifications were presented at the awards ceremony, which was officially overseen by YB Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, the Secretary-General of MITI.
"This recognition reflects Perodua's commitment to delivering innovative and well-designed products to our customers," expressed Perodua through its official Facebook page. The second-generation Alza, introduced last July, underpins the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA). The result sees the second-gen Alza arriving as a larger and more practical vehicle compared to its predecessor.

Though designed and engineered by Perodua first, the Alza however came into production and market release later than its Toyota- and Daihatsu-badged twins. This reportedly stemmed from Perodua unable to induct it into its production line in Sungai Choh, Rawang at the time as said facility wasn’t yet ready to accommodate it.
The compact MPV featuring 7-seats across three rows is powered by a Perodua’s signature 1.5-litre DVVT 4-cyl petrol mill that delivers 106 PS (105 HP) and 138 NM. Said outputs drive the front wheels through another signature Perodua hardware, by which we mean its new generation D_CVT automatic box.

Size growth aside, the second-gen Alza is also heralded as a groundbreaking model thanks to its vastly improved standard safety features equipped. Key to which is the sleuth of active driver assist (ADAS) features primed in the range-topping AV variant, which is priced from RM75,500 sans insurance.
