Perodua Issued Official Statement on Daihatsu’s “Procedural Irregularities”

Perodua issued an official statement following Daihatsu’s announcement of the suspension of its model due to “procedural irregularities”.
In case you missed it, Daihatsu has announced the suspension of shipments for all vehicles it developed that are produced in Japan and overseas markets following yet another report by the third-party committee on the “procedural irregularities” done by the automaker. This is the second time such an issue has been raised, with similar discrepancies unfolding earlier in April this year pertaining to the crash test-rigging scandal.
With this latest discrepancy also involving products from Perodua, the national automaker has issued an official statement in response to Daihatsu’s announcement. According to the statement, Perodua is currently doing a detailed assessment of the matter while working closely with relevant Malaysian authorities regarding the impact of this new development.
“We are doing a detailed assessment on the matter and are currently in discussion with Malaysian authorities as to the impact of this development on our vehicles,” the official statement reads.

According to the third-party committee report, it is concluded that a total of 174 irregularities were found in 25 test items since April this year, this time around covering no less than 64 models plus three engine series – a significant rise compared to the previous discrepancy, which only covered six DNGA-based products.

All models under Perodua's current lineup are affected by this latest discrepancy
Among the 64 models affected are the entire Perodua lineup, which includes models like both the DNGA-based Axia (D74A) and its predecessor, the Ativa crossover, the Alza MPV, both the current-gen Bezza and Myvi, as well as the Aruz three-row crossover MPV.
As of now, no announcement regarding the product recall or sales halt has been made by Perodua, with the automaker still in the midst of conducting internal investigations and assessments. Any further discoveries or outcomes of the investigations will be made publically in due course, the national automaker guarantees.
Aside from Perodua, this latest discrepancy also covers some models under the UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) umbrella, including several DNGA-based models like the AC100-gen Vios and Veloz, Aruz’s rebadged twin, the Rush crossover, as well as the Yaris hatchback. However, no official statements were issued by the firm as of writing.
As this development is still an ongoing process, we will have more on them as soon as all the details are released. In the meantime, stay tuned here at Caricarz.com for updates...
