Bukit Jalil Concert Traffic: New Management Plan Expected By February 2027

Stuck in traffic for hours before a concert at Bukit Jalil? The government is working on a dedicated traffic management plan targeted for February 2027, alongside longer-term measures to tackle congestion during major events.
Among the proposals being explored are smart-city traffic solutions and a possible bus transit hub linked to MRT3. However, no implementation date has been confirmed.
- February 2027: Targeted completion of Bukit Jalil's traffic management plan.
- Q1 2027: Micro-traffic management study expected to conclude.
- Under consideration: Smart-city traffic solutions and a possible MRT3-linked bus transit hub.
- For now: Selected major events may receive extended rail services, subject to official announcements.
What's Being Planned To Ease Bukit Jalil Traffic?
The government is looking at three main approaches to address congestion around Bukit Jalil during major concerts and sporting events.
Why Does Bukit Jalil Need A Dedicated Traffic Plan?
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat on 2 November, Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh acknowledged that congestion around Bukit Jalil can begin hours before major concerts, according to Bernama's report.
The problem is not new. In April 2025, Carz reported on major events expected to attract more than 100,000 people to Bukit Jalil, highlighting the pressure large crowds can place on surrounding roads.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud has appointed consultants to conduct a micro-traffic management study, which will also consider residents' concerns.
The Weeknd At Bukit Jalil: What Motorists Should Know

The announcement comes ahead of The Weeknd's concert at TM Stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil, on 4 and 5 November 2026. Rapid KL has announced extended rail services for concertgoers, although interchange cut-off times vary depending on the route.
A look back at how rail services were extended for major Bukit Jalil concerts in 2023. Historical operating hours do not apply to current events.
Until the new plan takes shape, motorists heading to Bukit Jalil for major events should allow extra travel time and check the latest public transport arrangements.
