Proton attributes slow delivery of Proton X50 due to Covid-19 measures.
Kuala Lumpur, December 31, 2020. China Press reported on yesterday (December 30, 2020) that Proton X50 buyers are dissatisfied with the slow delivery of its latest model.
With about 30,000 bookings made since September 2020, but there were only only 3,200 cars have been delivered.
An online petition was initiated by one of the buyers, seeking answers as to why delivery of the X50 has been delayed.
According to the petition, a dissatisfied customer is seeking answers as to why certain customers who ordered early have not received their cars yet. But other customers who booked later have received their X50.
Proton Edar Sdn Bhd (PESB) chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah said, ”Due to CMCO it has slowed the production of the X50 because the production is dependent on the parts supplier. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the supplier is temporarily closed, and the problem of the delayed delivery is inevitable.”
“Proton plans to complete the existing orders within the next 2 months, new orders will take 3 to 4 months to fulfil.”
“Proton is working hard in meeting the demands of its customers, we deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused. This is really unexpected for this I apologise to the customer.”
