- JPJ confirms that 32 members were arrested on suspicion of corruption
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) confirmed the arrest of 32 of its members on suspicion of corruption in Operation Sukat by the Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC) on Monday, March 15.
In a statement made by JPJ on Tuesday, it was mentioned that the result of close cooperation between them and the MACC in the effort to ensure that the department is always clean from any elements of abuse of power and corruption that will result in the leakage of national revenue.
“The top management of JPJ hopes that such action will be a clear manifestation that JPJ does not compromise with any activity that could affect the reputation and good name of JPJ in terms of integrity.”
"This initiative will not be successful without strong cooperation from all parties, especially among JPJ staff themselves," according to the statement.
Thus, the top management of JPJ expressed their appreciation to the staff of JPJ who always uphold the aspect of integrity in carrying out their routine duties.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the MACC arrested 44 individuals, including 32 JPJ officers, a traffic policeman and a former traffic policeman suspected of being involved in protecting lorry drivers who had committed offenses in several states.
The large-scale operation in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Perlis and Melaka was due to the suspicion of individuals protecting lorry drivers who committed offenses such as carrying additional load and not meeting the technical aspects of the vehicle.
