- Possible Specifications for the New Nissan Navara?
In our last article regarding the Nissan Navara, we mentioned how a picture of a possible new Nissan Navara was leaked on Facebook. The picture taken showed a rear view of an updated Nissan Navara at a location in Semenyih.
Since then, there has been rumours going around the Nissan Navara and how it closely resembles the recent Thailand and Laos Nissan Navara. With a similar looking exterior, will the new possible Nissan Navara have similar specifications to both models from our neighbouring countries?
As a recap, the Malaysian Nissan Navara was currently the oldest model in the segment. Launched in 2015, its close rivals have gotten a revamped look as of recent. The VL Plus variant features an in-line 4-cylinder DOHC turbo engine which produces 197 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It also includes safety features such as Intelligent Around View Monitor (i-AVM), Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS) as well as Traction Control System (TCS) just to name a few.
Moving on to the newly launched Thailand model, it features two variants namely the YS23DDT and the YS23DDTT. The YS23DDT six-speed manual engine produces 160 hp at 3,750 rpm and 403 Nm from 1,500 at 2,500 rpm. The twin-turbo YS23DDTT seven-speed automatic engine on the other hand produces 190 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm at 2,000 rpm.
The model features a new facelift with a new front fascia with a larger “interlock” grille, rectangular headlamps, taller bonnet, and a more sophisticated front bumper. The rear of the vehicle also receives a taller bed, revamped tailgate design and a muscular bumper alongside an integrated step.
Nissan has also introduced the improved Pro-2X (King Cab) and Pro-4X (Double with a starting price of THB 599,000 (RM79,712) and THB 1,149,000 (RM152,905). Compared to the Malaysian model, a few of the key additions include a new NissanConnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and improved sound insulation. Included are also new convenience features such as a 360-degree camera, auto-folding door mirrors, speed-sensing door locks and rain-sensing wipers.
Safety-wise, the new Thailand release also adds on the Trailer Sway Assist (TSA) system, and the Nissan Intelligent Mobility which includes features such as intelligent park assists, emergency braking, traffic sign recognition as well as intelligent trace and ride control. The Nissan Intelligent Mobility system ensures that drivers can enjoy a seamless drive without worries.
