Here's A List Of All The Safety Features Available In The Toyota Corolla Cross
The Toyota Corolla Cross finally hit Malaysian markets on the March 25, 2021. This model is possibly one of the most awaited advanced compact crossover SUVs to be showcased this year. Equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense, the Cross comes with a set of very generous safety features. Let's dive in!
Among the safety features in the Corolla Cross include a Pre-collision System (PCS) that helps to avoid or mitigate frontal collisions by alerting the driver and automatically applies the brakes when detecting risks of collision.
Other than that, there is Lane Departure Alert (LDA) which alerts and assists the driver when the vehicle is out of the lane unintentionally. This helps to prevent more swaying and ensures more smooth driving.
This is followed by Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) for high speeds. When the vehicle is at a speed above 30 km/h, this feature will help maintain a secure distance with the vehicle in front and will automatically brake when the car in front slows down.
Also equipped in the Cross is Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) which is also for high speeds where if the car is moving above 30 km/h, the feature will maintain the vehicle to be centred by detecting the lane or the vehicle in front.
The Automatic High Beam (AHB) feature in the vehicle will automatically switch between high or low beams when needed in order to produce maximum road visibility. Also available in the vehicle is a 3D Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) that will allow the drive to get a detailed 360° view of the vehicle when manoeuvring in tight spaces. Not only that, also included is Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) that will aid in detecting and alerting the driver of vehicles that may not be visible when changing lanes or even when reversing.
On top of that, there is a front digital video recorder (DVR) that will allow the driver to record journeys for protection in case evidence is needed. Also included is seven SRS airbags. The driver, front passenger, curtain and driver’s knee airbags will provide protection for passengers in the vehicle incase of a collision.
Following that is Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) that is a feature that sustains brake pressure for 3 seconds to prohibit the vehicle from rolling backwards on an incline. As for the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC) feature, the VSC helps to avoid side skids and gives more stability to the vehicle when turning on a curve. While the TRC applies the brakes or slows down the engine to control the spinning and ensures proper contact of tyres.
The Cross comes with a Tyre Pressure Warning System (TPWS) that notifies the driver when tyre pressure is lower than the appropriate level. Not forgetting the six parking sensors where two ultrasonic sensors are located in the front and 4 are located at the back.
The Toyota Corolla Cross was previously awarded the 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating. With all the safety features mentioned above, we at Caricarz would not expect anything less. Tell us what you think in the comments below!
