With the high increase in COVID-19 cases over the past four days, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has recently decided to tighten standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the purpose of interstate travel.

This means that PDRM will only approve interstate movement permits on Monday to Thursday only.

The matter was confirmed by the Deputy Inspector, General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani in a statement last night.

He has stated that for the time being, if applications are approved, the individuals involved would only be allowed to travel on Monday to Thursday. Permits will be given for these following reasons:

  1. Work Purposes
  2. Emergency Situations
  3. Death (close family members only)
  4. Medication Purposes
  5. Education
  6. Long Distance Couples

On the other hand, interstate travel on the weekends will not be approved, which does not include emergencies, deaths and long distance couples.

The new order will be in effect until after Hari Raya Aidilfitri and any party who disobeys the order, will be subject to stern action.
