Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. recently brought in their first women Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Madoka Chujo.

Chujo took over the responsibilities of her predecessor, Toichi Ishiyama on the April 1 2021. Before assuming office in Honda Malaysia, she held the title of Vice President at Honda Canada Inc. Her journey started in 1997 when she joined Honda 23 years ago. Ms. Chujo’s skills and expertise lie in the aspect of Sales Strategy.

“Malaysia is indeed an important market in the Asia and Oceania region with Honda Malaysia achieving various significant sales milestones and have become one of the leading automotive brands in the country. I am looking forward and excited for my first assignment as the MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia, and at the same time I am also eager to explore Malaysia as the country is unique and a melting pot of diverse cultures and people, with enormous potential and of course a fast-paced work environment,” said Chujo.

As for Chujo’s predecessor, Ishiyama started his journey at the company in November 2017, where he started off with his first launch, the World’s Fastest (FWD) Production Car, the Civic Type R in 2017.

Not only that, he also launched new models such as the 5th Generation All-New City as well as the World Premiere of RS e:HEV in October 2020 and also the world premiere of Honda’s e:TECHNOLOGY initiative that was a first for the Asia and Oceania Region.

On top of that, during his time at Honda Malaysia, Ishiyama had not only managed to lead a victorious accomplishment of up to 900,000 sales in 2019 but also managed to preserve the company’s spot as No.1 Non-National Car Brand for six straight years in 2020.

Following that, Honda Malaysia also reached an extraordinary achievement of reaching the 1 millionth sales unit in March 2021, under the leadership of Ishiyama. Not forgetting that his leadership managed to get the company through tough times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020.

Now moving on to a new venture, Ishiyama is headed to a new role in the Business Automobile, Business Strategy Division, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Japan.
