- Defining Practicality, Renault Presents The All-New Express!
The all-new Express offers one of the best from practicality, technological to price and service ratios leveraging the quality for which the Renault brand is known. It can be used for work, pick up the kids from school and even go on holiday.
It was manufactured at the Renault plant in Tangier, Morocco. all-new Express will be on sale worldwide in May 2021 excluding Europe.
“The all-new Express adopts the stylistic hallmarks of the Renault brand and is aimed at the international market, outside Europe. It has robust yet dynamic design and it has the largest boot on the market and generous storage compartments to satisfy any needs. It suits both work and private use. The All-New Express is a vehicle that can do all,” said Groupe Renault commercial director of small vans, Jean-Louis Wiedemann.
For the exterior features, it has a new and more assertive front face, including a ribbed bonnet and vertical bumper and grille. It reflects the characteristic style of the Renault brand as seen in the C-shaped LED lighting signature and the emblematic dog-leg chrome grill. The powerful dual-optic lamps feature high-beams and low-beams that are now 90 percent and 60 percent brighter respectively.
Apart from that, it has smooth curved finishing for the wings, front doors and sliding side doors that are designed with flowing lines. It has 2 sizes of wheels that include 15-inch and 16-inch aluminium wheels. Furthermore, the side mirrors provide a wide field of vision. The bonnet aerodynamics enhances the airflow and optimises fuel efficiency.
It also has fewer visible details but higher quality finishing. For the front part, the raised bonnet line hides the windscreen wipers, spray nozzles and hinges. The front hitch ring has been built into the fog light cover. The door keyholes are removed for added security and anti-theft protection. The side and rear doors can be unlocked independently of the front doors with the three-button keys.
There are 3 exterior colours of all-new Express. The launched colour with its own unique hue is Iron Blue, two-tone Metallic Highland Grey and Pearl Black or solid Glacier White and Urban Grey.
For the interior features, it has a modern horizontal dashboard with clean lines that highlights the vehicle’s roominess. Apart from that, it has chrome accents on the dashboard, steering wheel, climate controls, gear stick and interior door handles that look streamlined. As for the seat features, the driver can easily alter the length of (+/- 110 mm), height of (+/- 40 mm) as well as the height of the seat belt and steering wheel. It is also available with an armrest for greater driving comfort.
Apart from that, there are five full-sized seats and 2/3–1/3 folding bench seats. The three of five full-sized seats in the second row can be folded down and removed. The rear seats feature can be folded down either ⅓, ⅔ or completely for extra cargo space. Also, the rear seats are equipped with three ISOFIX systems so that up to three children can be installed side-by-side. There are more than 6-litres of storage in the door compartment (2 x 1.2-litre), two removable trays and two seat pockets so that rear passengers can have their own storage area.
There are more than 54-litres of storage space which 4.2-litres uncovered central storage on top of dashboard open, 1.2-litres close storage above and 0.8-litres left hand side of steering wheel, 6.8-litres or 7.4-litres glove box with spare change compartment, 2.9-litres two door storage compartment that can fit a 1.5L bottle, 0.5-litres two dual cup holders, 0.4-litres storage compartment behind the hand brake, 0.6-litres storage tray, 0.2-litres small storage embedded in the Connect R&Go radio and nearby the hand brake, 3.8-litres large open storage and 21.8-litres head-height compartment.
The all-new Express has the best side door opening. It has a 716 mm sliding side door and 1,189mm long usable floor space (luggage area behind the rear bench seats), so it's easier to get in and out and load and unload. Apart from that, it has the largest boot space which is 800-litres. Without a cargo cover and the rear bench seat folded, the storage area can reach up to 3,000-litres. It can be equipped with a divider net which proves useful when transporting animals or numerous items of luggage to keep out of the passenger section. It can be mounted behind the rear bench seat, or behind the driver and front passenger seats. A rubber floor mat can also be installed in the rear compartment. So washing the boot is a breeze.
It comes with three USB sockets which are located on the radio faceplate and another two are in the storage compartment above the steering wheel. Additionally, there are four 12V sockets and one of them is in the boot. It also included a 15 watts induction charger so we can still charge our phone while using the apps.
As for the infotainment system, it has triple-options are Connect R&Go radio and Renault EASY LINK multimedia system with 8-inch touchscreen (colour, landscape) and four speakers and two tweeters optimum acoustics.
Apart from that, it has voice recognition that compatible with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay via cable plug-in so we can enjoy our favourite apps via smartphone mirroring to send and receive text messages, make calls, listen to music, and use Google Voice and SIRI voice assistants, all while still abiding road rules and without taking any risks. The 2D/3D navigation option facilitates guidance, helping with intersection localisation and the like. It uses an internal gyroscope to help guide even without a GPS signal.
For the safety features, it has Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), extended grip with all-weather tires when taking off and driving at low speeds on soft, low-grip surfaces are hard sand, snow, damp soil, etc). It is also active up to 50 km/h which helps drivers maintain speed and direction instead of slipping or digging in the wheels. In addition to safety features on city roads, highways and stress-free speed limits are Cruise Control and Speed Limiter technology which are accessible via buttons on the steering wheel. Furthermore, it has Blind Spot Warning, Trailer Stability Assist which is connected to the Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
Apart from that, it comes with up to six airbags for driver, front passenger, two-side impact and two curtain bags. It also has easier parking manoeuvres are Front and Rear Park Assist and Reversing Camera.
As for the performance, it is powered by the 1.5 dCi 95 diesel engine paired with a 6-speed transmission. There’s also the 1.6 SCe 110hp petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox option.
Moreover, the vehicle's Eco-Mode system can be activated via the dashboard for an additional 12 percent fuel savings. The ‘Gear Shift Indicator’ informs the driver of when it is the best time to shift gears, thereby saving an extra 5 percent in fuel.
