- Two Is Better Than One: The All-New Polo and Polo GTI In The Works?
Volkswagen has announced the debut of the Polo and Polo GTI, which is set to release this upcoming June.
The new Polo, which is now available for pre-order features a dynamic design - the front and rear inclusive of bumpers have been revamped, alongside both headlamps and tail lamps which feature the LED technology as standard. The “IQ.LIGHT - LED matrix headlamps” are optional, which showcases a continuous LED strip light merging with the front headlamps.
Interior-wise, the basic version includes the “Digital Cockpit”, newly designed multifunction steering wheel as well as the latest MIB3 infotainment system with eSIM on board as standard. Three sustainable engines are available to choose from: Two economical TSI which produces 93 hp and 108 hp respectively alongside a natural gas turbo engine with 88 hp.
Volkswagen has also altered the Polo's specification matrix: in addition to the basic version "Polo," the lines "Life," "Style," and "R-Line" are now available. The basic model's comprehensive standard specification includes features like the lane departure warning system "Lane Assist," the surroundings monitoring system "Front Assist" with city emergency braking function and pedestrian detection, and the Digital Cockpit.
Additionally, Volkswagen will introduce the Polo “Fresh” in June, an entry-level model with an introductory price of less than 16,000 euros.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen also offered a first peek at the new Polo GTI, a compact sports car based on the new Polo. The GTI will be offered as the premium version of the product line, with the official world premiere to take place at the end of June 2021.
Debuted in 1975, the GTI is known for its high-torque front-wheel drive, dynamically tuned sports chassis and expressive design which allows for top-notch driving dynamics and usability.
