- Nissan Navara Against Its Competitors: Which Pickup Truck Is Better?
The 2021 Nissan Navara was introduced to the local market earlier this year, as we all know. The arrival of the facelifted pickup truck may increase its rivalry between the Triton, Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux 2000. Here is how they compare to one another!
As a recap, the all-new Nissan Navara features a 2.5-litre turbo engine. The exterior receives an upgrade with its grille, taller bonnet, Serena’s three-spoke steering wheel, and a height increase of its rear bed alongside extensive safety and comfort features.
When comparing its price, the Hilux sits at first place with prices starting at RM92,880, followed by the Ford Ranger, which has a starting price of RM92,388. The Nissan Navara with a starting price of RM91,900 takes third place with the Isuzu D-Max following prices starting from RM80,149. Lastly, the Triton has the lowest price compared to the rest, with prices starting at RM78,890.
Engine-wise, the Nissan Navara is fitted with an In-line 4-Cylinders DOHC Intercooler Turbo-Diesel engine alongside a 7-Speed Auto Transmission with Manual Mode, which produces 190 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm at 2,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Triton rides on a 2.5-litre DOHC Variable Geometry Turbo engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission which generates 178 hp at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm at 2,500 rpm. On the other hand, the D-Max gets a 1.9-litre DOHC with Variable Geometry Turbocharger & Commonial Direct Injection engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission which produces 148 hp at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm at 1,800 rpm.
The Ford Ranger gets a 2.0-litre DOHC Commonrail Diesel with Bi-Turbo engine alongside a 10-speed automatic transmission, producing 210 hp at 3,700 rpm and 500 Nm at 1,750 rpm, respectively. Lastly, the Toyota Hilux fitted with a 2.4-litre DOHC with Commonrail direct injection, VG Turbocharger and VVT engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, which allows the vehicle to power up 148 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,600 rpm.
In terms of dimension, the Nissan Navara measures 5,260 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,855 mm tall. With a wheelbase span of 3,150 mm, and a rear bed of 1,468 mm long, 1,560 mm wide and 519 mm tall.
The Triton on the other hand, has a measurement of 5,305 mm long, 1,815 mm wide and 1,795 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm with a 1,520 mm long, 1,470 mm wide and 475 mm tall rear bed.
Following that, the Isuzu D-Max stands at 5,265 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and a height of 1,810 mm. Equipped with a rear bed of 1,571 mm long, 1,530 mm wide and 490 mm tall, it also has a wheelbase spanning 3,125 mm.
Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger is measured at 5,426 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and a height of 1,848 mm. It is equipped with a wheelbase of 3,220 mm along with a rear bed measuring at 1,560 mm long, 1,330 mm wide and 511 mm tall rear bed.
Finally, the Toyota Hilux 2000 has an overall measurement of 5,235 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,815 mm tall. It has a wheelbase spanning 3,085 mm and a deck measured at 1,525 mm long, 1,540 mm wide and 480 mm tall.
WIth the dimensions mentioned above, the Nissan Navara bags first place in terms of height (1,855 mm) while the first place for width goes to the Toyota Hilux 2000 (1,900 mm), and the Ford Ranger records the longest length (5,426 mm) between all the models. In terms of the rear bed, it is seen that the D-Max has the most spacious deck compared to the rest.
