All opinions expressed are translated directly from Caricarz’s writer, Suhana Veru’s article. All of the information stated above is based on Caricarz’s previous research in September 2021. Current prices and information may differ.

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (PERODUA) introduced Aruz on January 15 2019. Over the past two years, it has received a hefty amount of orders among consumers in Malaysia due to its affordable price.

As is well known, there are only two variants offered, the Aruz 1.5 X and the range-topping variant, Aruz 1.5 AV.

The X variant is priced at RM70,846.35, while the AV is RM75,684.15.

Based on the table above, the X variant comes with 17 -inch alloy rims, LED front and rear lights, fabric seats, foldable and slidable second-row seats, six speakers, two USB ports, Eco-Idle, six airbags, VSC, grip control and a reverse camera, just to name a few.

Meanwhile, the AV variant comes with additional features such as LED automatic headlamps, roof rails, leather-wrapped seats, a multimedia system with Smart Link navigation for android and HDMI, and Driving Video Recorder.

Touching on its competitors, the Perodua Aruz stands among the Honda BR-V, Toyota Rush, Toyota Avanza and Mitsubishi Xpander.

Starting with its first competitor, the BR-V, which weighs 1,260 kilograms (kg). It is fitted with a 1.5-litre, 16-valve variable-valve timing engine where it is mated to a 4-speed CVT automatic transmission. It is said to produce 119 horsepower at 6,600 rpm, while it's torque, 145Nm at 4,600 rpm. The maximum speed of this BR-V is 160 kilometres per hour (km/h).

Its second rival is the Toyota Rush which weighs 1,305 kg. It also uses the same engine as the BR-V, a 1.5-litre engine, 16 variable dual-valve timing valves, capable of dissipating 104hp at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The engine is also coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Its third competitor is Toyota Avanza. It also uses the same engine as the BR-V and Rush. It makes no difference! The Avanza can produce 103hp at 6,000 rpm, and its torque reaches 136Nm at 4,200 rpm.

Last but not least is the Mitsubishi Xpander. The 1,269 kg vehicle uses a 1.5 -litre, 16-valve natural aspiration DOHC engine with variable valve timing and four-speed transmission.

In short, it doesn’t have much difference in terms of engine amongst its four competitors.

Regardless, suppose you are still considering buying the Aruz. In that case, you can make the right decision after watching our detailed video about Aruz on our Youtube channel and Facebook page, CariCarz!
