Four men were lucky to survive after the car they were travelling in was hit by a falling tree in a landslide caused by continuous heavy downpour near Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.

Three of them walked away unhurt, while one of the passengers suffered a nosebleed.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department Zone 3 chief Shahrul Nizam Nasir said, "The victim and one of the passengers were successfully rescued by firemen and handed over to hospital authorities while the public rescued the other two men,"

He added that a two-hour heavy downpour at the hill resort town caused landslides and falling trees in several areas around Tanah Rata and Ringlet.

"The incident caused roads to be blocked. However, there were no casualties or loss of properties. Clean-up works are underway," Shahrul said.

As of 10.30 pm, no casualties were reported.

For those planning for a holiday in Cameron Highlands this weekend, do be extra cautious!
