Typifying The Swinging Sixties, Alfa Romeo Presents The Giulia And Stelvio GT Junior Special Series

Honouring its exceptional historical legacy, an epitome of the swinging sixties brought back to life, Alfa Romeo presents the new Giulia and Stelvio GT Junior special series.

Mused by the classic Giulia GT 1300 Junior, an icon of the 1960s, the new exclusive limited-edition series is built on the ‘Veloce’ trim level, the sportiest in the line-up.

To begin with, the GT 1300 Junior was a stunning forerunner of the equilibrium between beauty and functionality so characteristic of the Italian brand.

Based on the Giulia Sprint GT, it underpinned a Bertone body and an 89 hp engine, which established itself as an ambassador of a timeless design with lightweight but powerful forms.

That said, the same values and features can be found in the present-day ‘GT Junior’ limited edition of the Giulia and Stelvio.

Conversely, the new series offers a 210 hp, 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine and a 280 hp, 2.0-litre turbo gasoline variant with four aluminium cylinders and a carbon fibre driveshaft.

Then, with a Q4 all-wheel drive or an optional rear-wheel-drive system on the 280 hp Giulia 2.0, the powertrains churn with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior-wise, they feature the captivating Lipari Ochre colour, inspired by the shade known as ‘Old Timers’, the brand’s distinctive heritage and typical daring choice of strongly characterful hues.

Complementing that, the Giulia and Stelvio ‘GT Junior’ feature five-hole lightweight 21-inch alloy wheels on the Stelvio and 19-inch on the Giulia.

Interior-wise, with its connotation of sporty minimalism, it includes electrically adjustable leather seats with distinctive ‘GT Junior’ embroidery on the front headrest, together with specific stitching.

Plus, aluminium steering column shift paddles for the automatic transmission come as standard, and other features on the dashboard are akin to the GT 1300 Junior’s pattern of the 1960s.

Last but not least, the series comes with L2 ADAS systems, rear parking sensors, wireless charger and automatically operated tailgate available as optional extras.

In short, the new series completes a triptych of successful launches, in which the GTA and GTAm launched in May sold out ultra-fast, along with the Giulia and Stelvio 6C Villa d’Este’s excellent sales.

Evidently, it confirms the Italian brand’s unparalleled ability to create cars characterised by long-lasting aesthetic and functional choices that inspire models as up to date as they come.
