Flood victims are advised not to try to self-repair their flood-damaged cars because disassembling the engine as well as the electronic components is a complicated process that can only be done by the experts.

According to automotive analyst Hezeri Samsuri, the flood-damaged vehicle needs to go through proper fixing processes due to the heavy engine damages. Flood victims are advised to send their cars to service center and workshop and get a quotation before the repair work is done.

"Most importantly, don't try to turn on the vehicle after a flood. This is an important thing, unless we know what to do," he said.

Hazeri also advised the public to seek further information from the insurance company if their cars are protected by additional coverage. Flood-victims must provide the insurance company with necessary photos and details on the damages.

Car owners are also advised to remove and dry the carpet while keeping all doors open to let the seats dry.

“High expertise is required to repair damage caused by this problem because water and mud can cause so much destruction to a car”
