- Mitsubishi Expander Debuted Its New Features
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) revealed the latest Xpander crossover MPV at the 28th GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show that will be entering other markets exclusive to the ASEAN region.
Featuring new body hues, the Mitsubishi Xpander introduces Blade Silver Metallic to its lineup and other available hues such as Quartz White Pearl, Graphite Gray Metallic, Jet-Black Mica, Red Metallic and Deep Bronze Metallic.
The new model has been upgraded to a more stylish design and improvised to a more eco-friendliness vehicle that offers high-efficiency continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Looking at its bodywork, Xpander appeals to have a stronger built-in and a new generation light shape and a horizontally rear bumper with a unique three-dimensional skid plate. The T-shaped headlights and LED stop lights are newly integrated to improve visibility at night.
The frontal view of Xpander looks more enhanced with its Dynamic Shield in addition to an extended 75 mm front overhang and 45 mm rear overhang, creating a perfect proportion. New for the high-end trim level is 17-inch wheels, which feature a machine-finished two-tone design along a vigorous round rim.
Exclusive for the higher-trim model, the instrument panel has been revamped, giving the spaciousness feels and offering soft pads with synthetic leather for armrest and door trim. Then, a sportier steering wheel with redesigned grip size and shape helps a better steering control for the driver.
Interior wise, the second-row seats now feature cup holders built into the armrest and charging outlets available in Type-A and Type-C for models with armrests. Xpander’s latest feature includes a large-capacity open tray and an armrest.
Also, Xpander car marque established an impressive graphic layout for the instrument cluster with a liquid crystal display at the car’s air conditioning panel.
Along with its effort to achieve eco-friendliness, Xpander adopted a high-efficiency CVT. For the car to achieve low fuel consumption without compromising engine performance, an external EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system has been installed on the engine.
The electric parking brake allows a reliable stop by simply operating a switch. The new brake auto-hold function allows the vehicle to maintain its stopped state even if the driver takes their foot off the brake pedal when waiting for a traffic light or in traffic jams.
As for the suspension system, the rigidity of the front strut mounting part has been improved, and the cylinder size of the rear shock absorber has been expanded. The high-performance valves have been integrated at the front and rear; the latest model provides a smooth and comfortable ride.
There is two minimum ground clearance being offered. One is 220 mm for CVT and 225 mm for MT models, except for certain trim levels.
