Mitsubishi Motors Cumulative Production Reaches One Million Units in Indonesia
Following its establishment in 2017, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that its Indonesian hub PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (MMKI) has accomplished a cumulative production milestone of one million vehicles.
The MMKI plant, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors, and local partner PT Krama Yudha, is a vital component of Mitsubishi Motors' operations throughout ASEAN.
In fiscal year 2019, the facility's output increased to 220,000 automobiles annually from its initial 160,000 vehicle capacity. The plant builds renowned models such the Colt L300, Xpander, Xpander Cross, Pajero Sport, and, more recently, the Xforce and Minicab EV. In addition to being sold throughout Indonesia, vehicles built by MMKI are exported to about 50 countries, including other ASEAN countries.
The growth of Indonesia's automobile sector has been greatly aided by Mitsubishi Motors. The 30-hectare MMKI plant, which employs over 3,500 people, demonstrates the company's dedication to innovation, sustainability, and regional economic development.
The Minicab EV is a significant step towards Mitsubishi's global goal of reaching a 100% electrified vehicle sales ratio by 2035. The company has also added electric vehicles to its production line.
