BMW X3 & X4 – Highly Integrated System With PHEV Variant Added
BMW Malaysia has released three new variants for the BMW X3 and a single BMW X4 in the country. The arrivals of both X3 and X4 from the BMW X family are new to the nation, especially for its mid-size premium Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV).
Coming off standard in the M Sport package, three BMW X3 variants being offered consist of sDrive20i, X3 xDrive30i, and X3 xDrive30e, which came with a price tag starting from RM315,800.00 to RM356,800.
Along the run, the revamped X4 also entered the market, with its price staged at RM398,800.00. Note that these are on the road prices without insurance and inclusive with Sales and Service Tax (SST). Prices shown are also included with BMW Service and Repair Inclusive.
Riding in 20-inches wheels, BMW X3 sDrive20i and xDrive30i is powered by a four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine mated to an eight-speed Auto Steptronic with Auto Hold Function and an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, respectively.
With a maximum output of 184hp and 300Nm, sDrive20i is up for a century sprint in 8.2 seconds and records a top speed of 215km/h.
Yet, it’s a different story for xDrive30e as it runs in the all-electric mode that combines the range of an internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric motor and battery that has a gross capacity of 12kWh to allow more than 50 kilometres (WLTP).
The New BMW X4 xDrive30i, on the other hand, is equipped with adaptive suspension. However, each car offers a different powertrain depending on its variants.
The latest features added to X3 and 4 are a larger 10.25-inch Control Display with touchscreen functionality, zinc-plated elements in the air vents, and new control elements below the display in the centre console. There are also full LED taillights and a sporty appearance featuring a more prominent kidney grille.
This premium SAV is highly integrated. It is powered by BMW Operating System 7 and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant that allows occupants to open windows and adjust the air conditioning system using voice command. Also new to its variant, BMW maps with cloud-based navigation to simplified destination entry points.
Its car marque even installed Over-the-air Remote Software Upgrades to ensure the vehicles always run the latest software.
Moving to its driving assistance, both X3 and X4 are equipped with Parking Assistant Plus with Park Assist, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Front Collision Warning with brake intervention.
Total of four colours offered for BMW X3 variants -Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Phytonic Blue or Carbon Black. Each vehicle is adorned with Leather Vernasca Black with Blue Stitching on the inside.
As X4 is fitted with Leather Vernasca Black Contrast Stitching, drivers may choose Alpine White, Piemont Red, Phytonic Blue or Carbon Black for its colour.
