Toyota Motor Finally Revealed The Completely Redesigned Noah And Voxy!

Toyota Motor Corporation debuted its completely redesigned  "Noah" and "Voxy" minivans, with models released on January 13, 2022.

This time, the automaker ‘recreates’ both Noah and Voxy with more convenience, comfort and style to provide the users with a great travelling experience and total peace of mind.

While the Noah is constructed on the principles of "majestic, modern, and high quality," as well as "mainstream and aggressive,"  the Voxy on the other hand is created on the principles of "leading edge and unique."

The TNGA (GA-C) platform is used to build the new Noah and Voxy. In comparison to prior models, body structure optimization allows for more vertically aligned C pillars, resulting in a spacing of 1,295 mm between left and right pillars (75 mm wider than previous models)*1. This, combined with a cabin height of 1,405 mm, gives the cabin a more open feel.

A 138 hp 1.8 litre 2ZR-FXE hybrid with the optional E-Four electric all-wheel-drive system, as well as a 168 hp/202 Nm 2.0 litre Dynamic Force M20A-FKS internal combustion engine with a Direct-Shift CVT transmission, power the Noah and Voxy. AWD is also available with this ICE arrangement.

Hands-free motorised sliding doors are also available as an option, which users may activate by positioning their feet below the front doors while carrying the key. In principle, it's similar to kick-sensing bootlids and tailgates, and it's useful when both hands are full.

The free-stop rear hatch mechanism, which Toyota claims is a world-first, adds to the list of convenience features. This allows the rear hatch door to be halted in the middle of its movement at any angle merely by pushing on it.

It allows access to the luggage compartment even when space behind the car is restricted and the hatch door cannot be fully opened. A switch on both rear quarter panels can open and close the motorised hatch door on models having that option.

And of course, the ease of use is also further increased with universal steps and free stop rear hatch doors using the Karakuri mechanism.

Karakuri is an automation mechanism that the company invented in Japan. It refers to the intelligent but straightforward automation of processes based on physical principles – with no drives, sensors, electricity or compressed air.

Both the Noah and the Voxy are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of devices for safety. This includes Proactive Driving Assist, a Toyota first that aims to provide avoidance steering and deceleration inputs to prevent the vehicle from getting too close to pedestrians, cyclists, and parked vehicles by anticipating risks such as pedestrians crossing the road or stationary vehicles suddenly starting to move.

Proactive Driving Assist also aims to anticipate the need to slow down, such as when responding to a vehicle ahead or when approaching a curve, in order to reduce the need for frequent changes in pedal application, says Toyota.

This is supplemented by the pre-collision safety system, which now includes motorcyclists in addition to other cars, pedestrians, and cyclists in the daylight, as well as additional help at crossings where accidents occur more frequently.

In addition to identifying approaching vehicles crossing its path at crossroads while the Noah/Voxy is travelling straight through or making a turn through an intersection, the pre-collision safety system recognises other vehicles and motorcyclists crossing at intersections, another Toyota first.

Low-speed acceleration control, parking support brakes, emergency steering aid, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic alert are all included in this system. Safe Exit Assist with Door Open Control is standard on versions with powered sliding doors;

it alerts occupants if the sliding door is being opened while a car or bicycle approaches from behind. If the hazard is recognised when the door is already open, the system will prevent the door from further opening.

Toyota Teammate is standard on both the Toyota Noah and the Toyota Voxy, and it features Advanced Drive and Advanced Park.

In some scenarios, such as while driving on motor vehicle-only highways and when radar cruise control and lane tracing assist are active in congested traffic, Advanced Drive provides driver assistance up to 40 km/h.

Meanwhile, Advanced Park supports reversing out of a forward parking position as well as traditional reverse parking scenarios. Hybrid-engine models also get a Toyota-first remote feature that allows drivers to manoeuvre their vehicles into and out of parking spaces using their smartphones from outside the vehicle.

The Toyota Noah and Voxy include an eight-inch screen with Connected Navigation compatibility for the Display Audio unit, and a 10.5-inch screen with onboard navigation for the Display Audio Plus arrangement, which also has Connected Navigation capability. The Noah and Voxy now have their own in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspots, which is another another Toyota first.

Welcab (welfare vehicle) variants of the 2022 Noah and Voxy are also available, using both Dynamic Force internal combustion and hybrid powertrains. These are wheelchair-accessible and tilt-seat variations for disabled and elderly occupants, and depending on variant, can accommodate one or two wheelchairs as well as third-row seats.

In Japan, the 2022 Toyota Noah starts from 2,670,000 yen (RM97,348) for the 2WD 2.0 litre Dynamic Force-engined X variant and goes up to 3,890,000 yen (RM141,829) for the S-Z variant with the Hybrid E-Four powertrain. Meanwhile, the 2022 Toyota Voxy starts at 3,090,000 yen (RM112,661) for the 2WD 2.0 litre Dynamic Force S-G model and goes up to 3,960,000 yen (RM144,381) in S-Z trim for the Hybrid E-Four powertrain.
