Those planning to return to Kelantan should be prepared to face unusual traffic jams in conjunction with this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

This is because approximately two million vehicles will storm to Kelantan to celebrate Aidilfitri this year.

The matter was confirmed by Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Shafien Mamat.

For your information, the expectation was made in the aftermath of the traffic jams that occurred in the state on the first day of Ramadan, last Sunday.

Since April 1, between 300,000 and 350,000 people have left and entered the state.

“We expect two million vehicles to enter Kelantan based on current statistics in the endemic phase," he said.

Regardless, we believe that the traffic situation will worsen this year because Malaysians will be on vacation for nine days in conjunction with celebration.

In addition, the Aidilfitri public holiday coincides with the weekend holiday and the Labor Day holiday.

So it's not surprising that this year's Aidilfitri celebration is expected to be the most lively yet, especially given that Muslims have been unable to return home for the past two years due to the Movement Control Order (PKP) enacted to combat the spread of Covid-19.

Before embarking on a long journey, make sure you plan the trip and, most importantly, maintain your vehicle!
