Johor police issued 4,433 traffic summonses in just the first two days of their Christmas and New Year road operations,<a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/plus-supplies-four-honda-cr-v-suvs-to-pdrm" target="_blank" style=""> targeting offences like illegal vehicle modifications, missing or altered number plates, and unlicensed driving.</a>
A special motorcycle operation in Iskandar Puteri added another 143 summonses, with 52 vehicles seized on the spot. On top of that, JPJ and the Department of Environment also joined in, issuing 46 notices for issues like excessive noise, emissions, and vehicle condition."This statewide operation involves 1,681 personnel and will run until Jan 1, focusing on busy roads and hotspots to prevent accidents, manage traffic, and keep street crime in check," said State police chief CP Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad.

The situation is a bit like 2015, when a tax incentive sent car sales soaring before dropping the next year. Authorities estimate that more than 2.2 million vehicles will be entering the state over the coming weeks, making it one of the busiest festive stretches of the year.According to Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/09/penang-traffic-woes-persist-despite-ptmp-penang-gerakan" target="_blank">the projection is based on traffic trends seen during past major festive seasons,</a> alongside the ongoing Penang Festival, which runs from Dec 6 until Jan 10, 2026 and continues to draw visitors from across the country.

Nationwide, traffic volumes are also expected to climb sharply. Police anticipate around two million vehicles per week using major highways during peak holiday travel, with routes leading to Penang among the most heavily used. "Traditionally, festive seasons see about 2.2 million vehicles entering or passing through Penang via the first and second Penang bridges, and this year is expected to follow a similar pattern," he told Bernama.Motorists should be prepared for serious congestion, especially at the main entrance of the Penang Bridge. Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy today and tomorrow, boosted by the government’s 50% toll discount, which tends to encourage more people to travel at the same time.
