VEDIWARD – An Alarm And Vehicle Instability Detector To Avoid Road Accidents

The number of lorry-related road accidents has recently increased, prompting a team of researchers from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) to develop an alarm; VEDIWARD.

It is a vehicle instability detector and alarm that can assist truck drivers in avoiding road accidents.

Here are some facts about VEDIWARD:

• Designed specifically for truck drivers

• Human-voice warning system

• An early warning will be issued prior to an accident occurring.

• Assist the driver in correcting his or her driving before an accident occurs.

According to a study conducted by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), the main causes of road accidents are:

• Human aspects (80.6 percent )

• Traffic conditions (13.2 percent )

• Automobiles (6.2 percent )

The use of this tool has the potential to save drivers' and other drivers' lives, as well as prevent accidents.
