A Beta For Future Production Models, Buick Unveils The Wildcat Electric Concept Car

Rallying for its conversion to a fully electric line-up by 2030, which will release its first electric vehicle under the Electra moniker in 2024, Buick presents the Wildcat EV concept car.

The Wildcat electric coupe is not a preview of a future model. It’s a beta for the design elements that will be employed on future production vehicles that will most likely arrive in 2023.

Speaking of which, said designs include the forward-tilting front end with a low-mounted trapezoidal grille, checkmark-shaped headlights and taillights with welcome choreography.

Profile-wise, it portrays side molding and aluminum trim with an overall low and sleek stance, which the former might be used on future production cars.

Next, the car also debuts a new tri-shield logo, significantly modified for the first time since 1990, that will appear on the front and back of future cars.

Besides that, it features ‘semi-swing’ doors with T-top-like top sections that raise for the doors to open, a state of charge indicator on the rear glass, and Jet Age-inspired 18-spoke turbine wheels.

Interior-wise, the Wildcat is equipped with a full-length center console that eliminates the center seating position in the small second row.

Uniquely, the cabin features front seats with headrests that appear to float, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and metal pedals.

Then, a wide touchscreen that starts in front of the driver and stretches across to the center stack occupies the dashboard.

Whereas, another screen sits at the front of the center console and is used to operate general vehicle information.

Legato Green appears throughout the cabin, as do orange accents, indicating Buick may be considering using such lively colors in the future.

Interestingly, Buick claims that the Wildcat EV concept is a platform for possible future features such as artificial intelligence, aromatherapy, and biometrics.

These systems could detect a spike in occupants' heart rates and activate a Zen mode to dim the lights, release aromatherapy scents, and turn on the massaging seats for calming effects.

Plus, just like the Electra-X crossover concept unveiled in China, the Wildcat is also harboring General motors’ Ultium battery and motor architecture.

In short, the Wildcat EV concept that has some wild features is just a design exercise, and as aforementioned, Buick’s first real electric car will hit the market in 2024.
