Elli and MITNETZ, Innovation Impulse for Future-Proof Grid Integration of E-Mobility’
Elli and MITNETZ STROM announces their new project to introduced smart grid integration of electric vehicles (EV).
Inspired by an algorithm that uses price incentives to make comparison between cars’ charging plans with local electricity output from renewable energies or any available area within the grid.
The concept falls under "Innovation Impulse for Future-Proof Grid Integration of E-Mobility’’ where the demonstration will be held starting today until June 23, 2022, at E-World in Essen, Germany.
According to vice president strategy Elli Niklas Schirmer, he mentioned that through this project it will demonstrate the process of EV to be synchronized with the power grid in a user-friendly way.
‘’The car becomes a rolling electricity storage unit for the grid operator.
As for drivers, financial added value is generated via price incentives," he added.
On top of that, the car marque believes EVs can run on green electricity and relieve the strain on the power grid where it is mostly needed.
The resulting flexible grid usage is intended to reduce the frequency of bottlenecks in the power grid and create financial benefits for participants.
In conjunction with the project, 20 drivers of Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4 or ID.5 will be involved in making electric cars to be part of the energy system in the future and increasingly using green electricity from the region for charging.
In the long run, these initiatives could prevent traffic jam in the local network by using advanced software to allocate charging processes for EV to the available network capacities.
