Every automaker out there has gotten a piece of the EV pie, albeit, the Chinese-based brand, Nio, has further solidified their electric reign with the debut of the long-awaited ES7.

NIO claims their new ES7 e-SUV is an electric game changer. Courtesy of being the first NIO SUV to use their NT 2.0 Platform and the first to reveal their ‘Design for AD’ ethos.

Straight off the bat, the new ES7 appears to be quite promising, projecting a rather sporty yet fancy overall exterior.

Gandering at the front end, it can be seen embellishing a distinguished shark nose fascia, paired with very slim headlights on the hood that lend its fancy appeal a focused outlook.

Keeping with the trend, the rear end further enhances its athletic presence with a coupe-esque roof silhouette and a tailgate that features ‘AirWing’ tail lights.

As for other aesthetics, it features a two-toned color theme. Notably, the hues offered come with a black roof and black lower claddings.

Completing the layout are the very stylish rims. A set of five-star-spoked with a two-toned finish in silver as the primary color and black as the secondary.

Interior-wise, total indulgence is the pivotal element here, as the ES7’s cabin is meant to feel like a second living room. Especially with its 2,960 mm wheelbase, offering an extra spacious cabin.

To set the mood, the options range from black, white and brown themes, with leather upholstery that’s been tanned with coffee shells.

Then, there’s the 256-color digital waterfall of ambient lighting and a setup of 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos surround sound system.

Not to forget, all of the seats also come with heating functions, while the front seats get additional massage functions.

Regardless, highlighting the cabin is its high-tech capabilities. It comes with an S-shaped instrument panel that features a touchscreen infotainment system and a virtual assistant.

Standard in each new ES7, the PanoCinema is NIO’s AR/VR compatible digital cockpit system, developed by NIO And NREAL, an AR device company.

Said system comes with custom augmented reality glasses that can project a 201-inch screen out six meters from the passengers.

Safety feature-wise, the ES7 comes abundantly equipped. The ES7 debuts NIO’s Digital System for Evolving Smart Technology that comes with a suite of functions.

E.g., Banyan smart operating system on the NT 2.0 platform, NIO Aquila Super Sensing and NIO Adam SuperComputing.

It also features the latest NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD) that is said to gradually achieve safe point-to-point autonomous driving in scenarios like highways, parking and battery swapping.

In a nutshell, the ES7 can monitor blind spots, recognize traffic signs and aid drivers to stay in lane, as it has been decked out with 33 sensing units such as cameras, sensors, radar and a LIDAR unit.

Performance-wise, the ES7 underpins NIO’S second-generation high-efficiency e-drive platform with the SiC power module.

Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 3.9 seconds, while braking from 100 to 0 km/h, it can do so within 33.9 meters.

Most impressively is its battery pack. With the 75-kWh standard range battery it offers up to 485 km of driving, whereas with the 150-kWh ultralong range battery, it’s up to 930 km.

Additionally, the ES7 is also one of the first certified passenger vehicles in China with the ability to tow a caravan or a trailer.

Offered as an option, the electric tow bar has a max towing capacity of 2,000 kg. And the ES7 can also support vehicle-to-load (V2L) discharging and ‘Camping Mode’ to power outside devices.

Pricing-wise, in China the ES7 with the standard battery pack tags at RMB 468,000 (RM 307,247) and with the ultralong battery pack, it’s at RMB 526,000 (RM 345,324).

Meanwhile, there is also an ES7 Premier Edition offered. This variant tags at a price of RMB 548,000 (RM 359,821).

Last but not least, the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, which allows changing of the battery as needed, has a pre-subsidy price starting at RMB 398,000 (RM 261,673).

That said, preorders for the NIO ES7 e-SUV are now available on the NIO app, with the deliveries expected to begin in China on August 28, 2022.
