The 2022 Perodua Alza is now available for booking, and Perodua has released preliminary details of the all-new MPV, which retains the household name but with a new 'vintage style' font.

Apparently, this new model showcases major improvements in terms of driving comfort and versatility over its long-serving JDM-based predecessor. It’s much larger, too!

As previously reported, the Perodua's tentative RRP for the new Alza is:

1.5L X CVT – RM62,000

1.5L H CVT – RM68,000

1.5L AV CVT – RM75,000

These are on-the-road prices for Peninsular Malaysia without insurance. The exact prices will be revealed at the official launch, which is scheduled for next month. The prices are higher than the old Alza, which was priced from RM52,661 to RM60,525, excluding the sub-RM50k manual version.

Buyers can select from five different colours, three of which are brand new. Vintage Brown, Garnet Red, Elegant Black, Glittering Silver, and Ivory White are the new coat colours. Brown and red are only available in the H and AV variants. The standard five-year/150,000-kilometer warranty applies.

Bookings made before July 1 will be eligible for SST exemption if the vehicle is registered by March 31, 2023, as the government recently announced.

Let’s get to the power!

The D27A Alza is powered by a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine, which is mated to the latest D-CVT automatic transmission. This powertrain combination is likely to be the same as that found in the most recent Myvi facelift. It is EEV-rated and has a claimed MDC fuel economy of 22.0 km/l. This is probably an abbreviation for Malaysian Driving Cycle, a locally developed protocol based on local conditions. Auto start-stop Eco Idle is standard.

Highlighted points in the flyer include;

. electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto brake hold

. 22 km/l FC

. chrome/gloss black front grille

. spacious seven-seater cabin

. 360-degree panoramic view monitor

As mentioned above, there are three variants offered by Perodua; X, H and AV.

The base variant comes with:

. LED headlamps with follow-me home function

. electric adjustable side mirrors with LED signals (manual fold)

. fabric seats

. front (digital) and rear (manual) air con controls

. autonomous emergency braking (AEB)

. Lane Departure Warning and Prevention

. Auto High Beam

. four airbags

. rear disc brakes

Move up to the H and you’ll get:

. drive modes (Eco, Normal, Power)

. Adaptive Driving Beam LED headlamps with sequential turn signals

. auto retractable wing mirrors

. rear armrests

. a 7.0 inch TFT multi-info display

. a 9.0 inch touchscreen head unit with reverse camera

. front parking sensors

The range topping AV exclusively gets:

. semi-leather two-tone seats

. EPB with auto brake hold

. 360-degree parking camera

. Adaptive Cruise Control,

. Lane Keep Control

. Blind Spot Monitor and

. Rear Cross Traffic Alert

. six airbags including curtain airbags

With a one-touch and slidable mechanism, owners can fold the third row to 50:50, while the second row folds to 60:40. With all seats upright, the boot capacity is only 137 litres, but it can be increased to 498 litres by folding the third row seats.
