The Masses Graced With A Sneak Peek, The All-New 2024 Chevrolet Blazer Electric Vehicle
Courtesy of General Motors’ chief executive officer, Mary Barra, the masses have been graced with a sneak peek at the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer SS EV.
Initially the Blazer was confirmed by Chevy in January and after several teasers later, a full visual of it is finally out ahead of its official debut this July 18.
First off, the image teased shows that the Blazer will be coming in an SS model, which General Motors confirmed in March.
Technical details are still undisclosed, but it is said to be a new vehicle and has no relation to the current fuel-combustion Blazer.
However, the Blazer EV does get design cues from the current version, which was also inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro.
It features a similar grille, as so is the body with a similar Coke-bottle silhouette. Though, the roof is slightly boxier in the rear.
Then, a gill-like design behind its front wheel serves as the charging port that pops out instead of hinging open, akin to the charge door for the Cadillac Lyriq.
Mechanical-wise, the Blazer EV is expected to use GM's Ultium battery and powertrain architecture that ranges in the Cadillac Lyriq, GMC Hummer EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Besides that, no specifications for power and range are available, but basing on the assumed powertrain setup, it should have 300 miles (483 km) of range in at least one of its trims.
Speaking of trims, the current Blazer has no SS model, as Chevrolet reserves it for higher performance versions of its vehicles.
Regardless, said combustion model does offer an RS trim with an SS-esque outlook, though without the additional performance.
That said, it's indefinite if the fuel-powered Blazer will continue when the EV version arrives, then again, it's possible GM will opt to sell both for a few model years.
The Blazer is part of 20 new electric vehicles GM plans to release for the North American market by the end of 2023.
